Danotek Raises $13.2 Million For Energy Technologies


Four of the world’s leading renewable energy venture capital firms are partnering for the first time with co-investments to bring to market new technology that will make wind turbines more efficient, reliable and affordable. GE Energy Financial Services, CMEA Capital, Khosla Ventures  and Energy Capital Management will invest a combined $13.2 million in Danotek Motion Technologies of Canton Township.

Beringea Invests in LED and Smart Grid Firm Relume


Farmington Hills-based Berigea LLC, Michigan’s largest venture capital firm, has invested in Oxford-based Relume Technologies, a manufacturer of light-emitting diode products and smart grid control systems for outdoor lighting applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Energy Conversion Devices Gets 3 Megawatt Solar Project in Spain


Rochester Hills-based Energy Conversion Devices Inc. said Monday that it had signed an agreement with Spain's Endesa to install three megawatts of its Uni-Solar photovoltaic laminates on the rooftops of two Coca-Cola buildings in Seville.

Azure Dynamics Receives Record Truck Order


The Oak Park hybrid and electric truck developer Azure Dynamics Corp. (TSX: AZD) Monday said it had received an order for 200 of its Balance Hybrid Electric delivery trucks from Purolator Courier Ltd. The purchase is Azure's largest revenue order to date and the highest volume Balance order since the product launched in the summer of 2008.

Gomez Gets New Reseller


Gomez, the Web performance division of Detroit-based Compuware Corp. and Santa Clara, Calif.-based OpSource, the leader in cloud operations, announced that they have signed a partnership agreement under which OpSource will resell Gomez's Web performance management system to its enterprise customers as well as use it to validate and monitor its own cloud performance.

UM Health System Gets $15M Gift, Largest Ever for Women's Health


The University of Michigan Health System has received a $15 million gift from the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation, the largest gift ever made to the health system for women's health. It will support the construction of a new women's hospital.

Canton Computers Moves Into Bigger Livonia Store


Livonia now has the first known drive-through computer repair center, thanks to a move by Canton Computers into a larger building on the corner of Plymouth and Wayne roads. Canton Computers, which opened its third location in Livonia in May 2008, tripled its size when it moved across the street into a 7,800-square foot building formerly occupied by a union office and bank.
