At ESPN, our reputation and credibility with viewers, readers and listeners are of paramount concern. While our goal is always to be accurate and fair, occasionally we will present an erroneous assertion of fact. Significant errors of fact will be corrected in a clear and timely manner, with appropriate prominence.

Correctable errors involve a significant factual mistake, or materially change the implication or connotation of the reporting. This policy is not intended to cover inconsequential factual errors, such as minor statistical mistakes, inadvertent and immaterial misidentifications, minor inaccuracies in a developing story or font errors that don't impair the viewers' understanding of a story.

Each unit at ESPN - such as Studio, Remote, Magazine, Radio, ESPN.com and other networks -- will implement this policy in a manner applicable to its medium. Corrections of significant factual errors across all media, as warranted, will be posted on ESPN.com's corrections page for a period of time.

ESPN produces 24/7 programming and services, across many platforms and under fierce deadline pressures. Mistakes are inevitable. A meaningful policy for correcting significant errors will engender trust with viewers, listeners and readers. ESPN's willingness to correct mistakes, as necessary, is directly proportional to our credibility with our audiences. ESPN will regularly review and amend the policy as warranted.

Clarification on Pacquiao blood test

In a Dec. 28 ESPN.com story on the potential Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight, it was written that Pacquiao had taken a blood test 14 days before his May fight with Ricky Hatton. Documents provided show the test was on April 8, 24 days prior to the fight (but still within a 30-day window prior to the fight). HBO showed the footage 14 days before the fight and the information was incorrectly given to ESPN.com. Quotes in the story were based on the information that the blood test took place 14 days before the Hatton fight. The story has been adjusted to reflect the new information. Updated story

Cash in Pierre trade

In a Dec. 15 ESPN.com story, the team receiving cash in the trade between the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers involving Juan Pierre was incorrect. The White Sox received cash in the deal. Updated story

Andy Pettitte human growth hormone use

On the Dec. 10 1 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter, it was inaccurately stated that Andy Pettitte admitted to using steroids. Pettitte's admission was to using human growth hormone -- not a steroid -- for two days in 2002 while with the Houston Astros.

NBA analysis

In a Dec. 7 ESPN.com story, the number of games included in an analysis of games involving referees Dick Bavetta was incorrect. It should have included only 109 games. Updated story

Drew surgery

In a Nov. 22 ESPN.com Insider Rumor Central post, the wrong Boston Red Sox player was listed as having shoulder surgery. The player who had the surgery is right fielder J.D. Drew. Updated story

Outside The Lines on Agassi

In the Nov. 13 Outside the Lines broadcast, during an interview with Martina Navratilova that discussed the impact of Andre Agassi's admissions of crystal meth use made in his new autobiography, Agassi's explanation of his positive drug test to the ATP was incorrectly characterized. According to Agassi's autobiography, it was an "assistant" who was the source of what Agassi drank, causing the positive drug test.

Fines for two Redskins players

In a Nov. 12 ESPN.com story about the NFL levying fines for a Falcons-Redskins sideline skirmish, totals were incorrectly reported for two Redskins players. The story should have read Albert Haynesworth was fined $5,000 and LaRon Landry was fined $7,500. Updated story

ESPNBoston.com blog post

Clarification from the editors of ESPNBoston.com: A Nov. 5 blog post featuring Joey Porter's comments regarding New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady should have been attributed to ProFootballTalk.com. The attribution has been corrected. Updated story

Penguins' road winning streak

In a Nov. 3 ESPN.com story about a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks, The Associated Press, based on information in the NHL record book, erroneously reported that the Penguins tied a league record with their seventh straight road victory to open the season. The Buffalo Sabres had 10 straight road victories at the start of the 2006-07 season. Updated story
