Fri May 22, 2009 Goodbye Reni, your chances are finally up Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Forget the push and shove after a few beers, forget public urination, and forget sex toys: the biggest dickhead this season has to be the Sharks' Reni Maitua. 15:18
Preview: Sharks v Dragons - NRL Round 11 Sat May 23, 2009 It is hard to know how many more body blows Cronulla can endure before their condition is pronounced as terminal.
Injuries, losing results, poor crowds, dwindling finances, and a succession of scandals, the latest being Reni Maitua's positive drug result, could be enough to send the Sharks to the wall.
After eight straight defeats the Sharks will face up to one of the form outfits of the competition, St George Illawarra, in a crucial local derby this Saturday night.
It has been billed as critical for the very survival of the Sharks. If their supporters desert them this week then there may be no way back.
The team did their club proud against Penrith last weekend, refusing to wilt in the latter stages even though victory was beyond them and Trent Barrett's try in the final seconds of the match was at least one positive sign.
The Dragons will need to respect their opponents, especially after almost blowing a big lead against the Bulldogs last Friday night.
Take a penalty goal to either side as First Scoring Play ($9 each team) and look to a Dragons win by 13+ points ($2-35).
First Tryscoring hopefuls include Bronx Goodwin ($15), Ben Pomeroy ($15) or Luke Covell ($13) for the Sharks or Brett Morris ($9), Darius Boyd ($13) or Beau Scott ($17) for the Dragons.
