ex-AAA invade Arena Mexico, new heavyweight champ

CMLL (SUN) 04/18 Arena Mexico [Cesar, SuperLuchas, @cmllmagazine]
1) Metálico & Trueno b Cholo & Zayco
2) Dr. X, Nitro, Raziel b Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov
3) Fuego, Metro, Pegasso b Arkangel de la Muerte, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Sagrado DQ Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Villano IV
5) Shocker, Strong Man, Toscano b Atlantis, Héctor Garza, Último Guerrero [Relevos Increíbles]

ATTACK! Semifinal ended in straight falls for the tecnicos, V4 (filling in for his brother) fouled Brazo de Plata. After the match, Psicosis II, Histeria, Maniaco, Monsther and Chucky hit the ring, attacking the tecnicos before being removed by security. The invaders escaped in a couple of cars before the tecnicos could get revenge this time. This is the second time they’ve run in, and the second time it’s been following a Taichi/Okumura match.

Garza worked as a rudo thru the main event, but ran away without being pinned.

Everyone challenged everyone else for a mask match after the segunda.

IWRG (SUN) 04/18 Arena Naucalpan [@gladiatores]
1) Alan Extreme b Héros
2) Daga & Dinamic Black b Comando Negro & Eterno
3) Chico Che, Eragon, Jack b Dr. Cerebro, Maldito Jr., Samoth
4) el Ángel, La Roca, Suicida b Oficial 911, Oficial Fierro, Veneno
5) Pirata Morgan & Scorpio Jr. b Canek & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [relevos suicidas]
6) Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Canek [IWRG IC HEAVY]

New champ. Canek had been champ since 2006. Also had not defended the belt since 2006.

Dos de Tres has video of La Parka Jr.’s challenge to LA Park.

Hector Garza continues to insist he’s still a tecnico, but just wanted to prove he can get it done in either camp, and that he can make anyone a bigger star. That’s directed at Fantasma and Mascara, but I’m thinking Polvora should not be fond of that statement. Doesn’t want to rock the boat right now, I bet.

Though he’s back to being a tecnico on the main shows, Mistico is still working previously booked rudo spots versus Volador elsewhere around the country.

Alebrije says he and the others ran in Arena Puebla because they wanted to prove they were better, and didn’t run in since because they’re independent and can show up where they want.

Arkangel, as a CMLL trainer, is critical of want to be wrestlers learning how to do moves by watching YouTube.

Today’s AAA TV show in Mexico announced Christopher Daniels would be coming in.

Cesar has a look at this week’s lineups.

EAW is pushing back their next card two weeks, to May 16th.

Rey Misterio Sr. underwent surgery today.

R de Rudo has the interviews from the Mini Boricuas vs Parkita & Mini Vagabundo feud. I think we’re up to 6 or 7 people who are claimed to be the original Parkita.

Estrellas del Ring writes about the WFS’ anniversary show, with two mask losses and one hair loss. The main even had Kahoz Jr. (not Mephisto) winning a cage match and Asturiano (not the guy from Puebla, I think.)

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks at the first show in Plaza Mexico, Satanico & Faraon in a 1980 title match, Mil Mascaras & Apolo Dantes in Japan, and Adrian Street in Mexico.

DJ Spectro has posts on Angel Blanco, Mil Mascaras, random mask from the 90s, and Shazam unmasking Astro.

Black Terry Jr. put a whole bunch of photos of from ‘07 and ‘08.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

SuperLuchas #360 has Sexi Star, Polvora, and Dark Angel picking up an Arison title in Japan. Only Dark Angel won the title, that was just a horrible designed sentence. SuperLuchas also has interviews with the Tuareg (who challenge the Cancerberos) and Cerebro Negro, who says he got kicked out of IWRG for also taking a DTU the same day. At the time, IWRG told him he could work both, and he arrived in IWRG to work both, but then they told him he’s no longer working there. Don’t ever be a luchador.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 04/22 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dragon Fly vs Epidemia
2) Brazo Metalico, Daga, Héros vs Alan Extreme, Comando Negro, Eterno
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samoth
4) Cerebro Negro, Kaos, Veneno vs Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II and Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco and Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Hijo del Signo [EdM Trios, semifinal]

Yes, Cerebro Negro has returned, just in time to participate in the tournament for the title he lost for not returning. He’s also not teaming with his former partners, which I don’t know what quite means except neither of those teams are winning the titles. I also have no clue who Kaos is – there was on on the RXLL show! This is probably not him.

Navarros vs Mascaras makes as much since as any.

IWRG (SUN) 04/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black vs Keshin Black
2) Daga & Héros vs Alan Extreme & Eterno
3) Chico Che, Eragon, Jack vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Black Terry & Dr. Cerebro vs Maldito Jr. & Samoth
5) Pantera, Scorpio Jr., Tinieblas Jr. vs Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno

A show.

CMLL (SUN) 04/25 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino vs Thunder Boy
2) Leo & Palacio Negro vs Drago & León Blanco
3) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto
4) Metal Blanco vs Rey Trueno, Magnum, Ráfaga, Guerrero Samurai II, Mr. Trueno, Hierro, Astaroth [cage]

Wait, this cage match only took like three weeks to happen! The accountant booking GDL wastes no time.

If the poster hanging up outside the building says one thing, and the offical press releases of the promotion say another, go with the poster.

No notes on the first two matches, except the women’s match did indeed happen despite not being listed earlier this week.

After the second, La Parka Jr. came to the ring to offer LA Park a match at TripleMania with any stip he wanted. Parka went on to says LA Park had betrayed AAA 13 years ago by leaving, and Parka will shut his big month. Parka also said the character of La Parka is AAA’s, just like Latin Lover, Psicosis, Histeria, Gronda and more, so that makes him the true La Parka. Thinking he should’ve stuck with his first point.

Generico debuted, lost to Ozz. This makes more sense when you consider Billy and Decnnis were his partners and they sure aren’t getting pins. Just surprised the rudos won at all, but maybe today’s theme was to have the foreigners lose to the locals.

Maybe in that same idea, Wagner beat Sabu clean after Sabu went thru a table and took a Wagner Driver. Wagner said he doesn’t need the ex-WagnerManiacos, he’s still Wagner.

Pimpi was the mystery person for the tecnico side. Either before or early on, LA Park (not so done here after all) attacked Parka Jr., dropping him with a martinete. Medical personal tried to get Parka Jr., but Parka and the ex-WagnerManiacos held them off and beat up Parka a bit more. Octagon & Pimpi were outnumbered, so Wagner ran down to help. This was the one time AAA decided to call a disqualification for interfernece, but Wagner proposed starting a new WagnerManaicos with Octagon & Pimpi.

Rudos won the main event, with Mesias and his hurt (and probably not surgically repaired yet) shoulder being the focal point. Zorro took out the arm and beat him via submissions. Rudos continued to attack after the match, until Joaquin Roldan and Vampiro came to the ring. Vampiro then turned on Joaquin, giving him a Michinoku Driver. Dorian approved, and Marisela Pena jumped in the ring to slap her son. Somewhere in here, AAA guys ran in for the save and were destroyed.

04/20-25 CMLL Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 04/20 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Camaleón vs Apocalipsis & Disturbio
2) Fabián el Gitano, Horus, Starman vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
3) Bam Bam, Eléctrico, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
4) Máximo, Rush, Sagrado vs Taichi, Vangelis, Virus
5) Héctor Garza, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Terrible

Despite acting like a rudo, Garza was on both the main show and Ras de Lona talking about how he’s totally a tecnico. Kinda like Mistico did (and is doing), except this one we’re not supposed to take seriously. It’s pretty clear watching it, since Garza is back to his rudo insincerity, but it takes something (guts or ignorance) to run these bits back to back.

Virus could use your prayers this week.

CMLL (FRI) 04/23 Arena Mexico
1) Astral, Bracito de Oro, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
2) Delta & Volador Jr. vs Guerrero Maya Jr. & Valiente and Ángel Azteca Jr. & Shocker and Pegasso & Toscano and Averno & Raziel and Durango Kid & Texano Jr. and Puma King & Último Guerrero andFelino & Tiger Kid [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
3) Blue Panther, Místico, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Dragon Rojo Jr., Rey Bucanero

The bit of angst here is Valiente being scheduled for this show, when he’s also supposed to be in Philadelphia for CHIKARA’s King of Trios at the same time. He’s good but he’s not that good. Valiente could replaced by anyone (Maya probably isn’t going to win) and this date should’ve been cleared earlier, but such is the never ending frustrating thing with Mexican wrestlers and US bookings.

As far as the CMLL issus, and putting aside the minis feud which can’t actually pick an end date, Delta & Volador Jr. and Angel Azteca Jr. & Shocker seem like the most likely teams. If you had to make a case for a rudo team, Ulitmo Guerrero in the final sets up another Garza/UG match up, but it makes much since to put a tecnico team in the final so we can all see Garza is not really with them. anymore. I don’t think Delta or Azteca is really ready to take advantage of a GA win long term, but I don’t suppose that’ll be a problem.

CMLL (SUN) 04/25 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Lady Apache vs Amapola, La Seductora, Princesa Sujei
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Astro Boy vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
4) Héctor Garza, Shocker, Toscano vs Rey Bucanero, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) Atlantis, Strong Man, Volador Jr. vs Místico, Terrible, Texano Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Semimain may be a hint for the GA final. Maybe one more Mistico/Volador match will give them a chance to draw a line under it and move on.

Polvora & Garza advance, Felino wins

CMLL (FRI) 04/16 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, SuperLuchas, Ovaciones (PDF), Fuego en el Ring, ESTO]
1) Apocalipsis & Bronco b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico, Shockercito
3) Blue Panther & Rey Cometa b Rey Bucanero & Semental [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
4) Héctor Garza & Pólvora b La Máscara & Sensei [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
5) Diamante & La Sombra b Cancerbero & Mephisto [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
6) Atlantis & Inquisidor b Disturbio & Terrible [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
7) Héctor Garza & Pólvora b Blue Panther & Rey Cometa [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
8) Diamante & La Sombra b Atlantis & Inquisidor [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
9) Héctor Garza & Pólvora b Diamante & La Sombra [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
10) Felino b Místico

Felino won the main event clean. I think they’re still building towards the hair/mask match between the two, but that’s a bad idea.

Garza was rudo-ing it up thru the tournament, even with his partner La Mascara in the first round match, though he did actually win clean. With a rudo team winning here, it seems certain a tecnico team will win next week. Matches were in the 5-10 minute length, making for a long show.

Mini rudos took the second in straight falls, with Warrior unmasking Oro in the second. After the match, Warrior and Oro finally agreed to the mask match, though no date was specified.

Fuego has an interview with Negro Navarro, who talks about his wrestling and his teaching.

Kcidis sees the Roldan family fight as something quite familiar.

Lineups later.

6) Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Brazo de Plata, Brazo Metalico, Hijo del Brazo de Plata [EdM Trios, semifinal]

Good day for rudos. Capos take the first half of this tournament, face next week’s block on 04/19.

CMLL (THU) 04/15 Arena Xalapa [La WagnerMania]
1) Jaguar & Linerna Verde b Guerrero del Infierno & Lobo Solitario
2) Black Thunder, Skándalo, Vampiro Metálico b Demonio Negro, Skayde, Turbo
3) Super Brazo L Virus, Tony Rivera, Máximo, Texano Jr., Rush, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi [hair]
4) La Sombra & Volador Jr. b Felino & Místico

Not totally sure on the hair loss there. Recap says “El Brazo”, but that doesn’t make sense. Both Super Brazo and Brazo de Oro were supposed to be in this match, and Rush replaced one of them. Brazo de Oro just lost his hair two weeks ago, so maybe it wouldn’t be him. Order of escape was Texano Jr., Taichi, Rush, Tony Rivera, and Maximo. Virus beat the Brazo out due to a distraction.  Whoever it was, he was spotted hiding their not-actually-shaved hair under a cap leaving the building.

Felino yanked off Mistico’s mask in the third fall, allowing Volador to pin him for the win. Mistico wanted a singles match with Volador and Felino’s hair, which doesn’t help in the least.

Who will win block A of the tournament?

  • Héctor Garza & Pólvora (36%, 10 Votes)

Previews of Arena Mexico’s show: ESTO, Ovaciones, Notimex. I’m leaning towards Diamante & La Sombra but I have no strong feeling about who’s coming out of this one.

SuperLuchas interviews Mictlan, who says he went on the CMLL tour of Europe and just decided to hang around Europe for five months. I don’t remember him actually be on that tour, and he hasn’t been around in more like 8 months. Anyway, Mictlan says he’ll be back in CMLL soon, maybe within a month. On the same topic, it’s been two months since Zumbido said he’d be starting in CMLL in two months.

DJ Spectro has links to movies La Llave Mortal, La Verdad de la Lucha, El Enmascarado de Plata, Las Lobas del Ring, Los Tigeres del Ring, and El Senor Tormenta.

Terrible says Disturbio remains him of a smaller version of Terrible and Texano, and maybe Disturbio could team up with them if he proves himself in this tournament. Somewhere, Vangelis is very concerned.

Sensacion de Luchas posts a bio of Angel Blanco.

R de Rudo has a bio of Generico.

LuchaWorld has 60-51 of the 2009 Countdown, and points to video of the ex-AAA run-in in Puebla. Sure seems like everyone (especially the cameraman) was waiting for the surprise appearance. Maybe they spotted them far sooner than I could.

Lineups

EAW (SUN) 05/02 Polideportivo Universidad UAH Pachucha, Hidalgo
1) Máscara Púrpura, Súper Nova, Turbo vs Black Thunder, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.
2) Gran Alebrije & Pollo vs Henry & Monsther
3) Gigante Zodiako & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Gigante Extasis & Hijo de LA Park
4) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Tinieblas Jr. vs LA Park & Psicosis II

1 year anniversary card. They took 7 months off! They’ve run nine whole shows!

…actually, that’s a little better than most. I take it all back.

Pimpi wins a mask, Porky/Negro, Lineups

Mistico & Cuije/ESTO

Mistico & Cuije/EST

AAA (MON) 04/12 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo [El Manana (Video), El Manana]
2) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Babe Rap, Hombre Sin Miedo, Sangre Chicana Jr.
3) Pimpinela Escarlata b Black Mamba [mask]
4) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr. b Chessman, Joe Lider, Sobredosis

Tercera was one fall, with Poder el Norte running into help Mamba, but Psycho Circus ran them off and helped Pimpi win. Black Mamba is Federico Vera, 26, 5 years a wrestler. Second apuesta win for Pimpi in about two weeks. Hmmm.

indy (TUE) 04/13 Arena Aficion [Hidalgo Sport, Estrellas del Ring]
3) Maldito Jr. & Ministro de la Muerte b Brazo Metalico & Guerrero Maya Jr.
4) Aspid L La Chona, Sexy Alondara [hair]
5) Neutrón & Último Dragón DQ Felino & Negro Navarro

Felino pulled Dragon’s mask for the third fall DQ. Ultimo Dragon has picture from the show on his blog; this was where he debuted.

CMLL (TUE) 04/13 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Virgo b Cerveruz
2) Acertijo & Ráfaga b Astaroth & Idolo
3) Drago & Ebola b Exterminador & León Blanco
4) Diamante & Metal Blanco DQ Misterioso II & Shigeo Okumura
5) Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Toscano b Asesino Negro, Terrible, Texano

Asesino Negro & Porky are feuding, but Porky got the direct fall win here. Okumura fouled Metal Blanco.

CMLL (TUE) 04/13 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, CMLL]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Bengala & Principe
2) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Starman b Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Bam Bam, Fantasy, Pequeño Olímpico b Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
4) Rush, Stuka Jr., Valiente DQ Euforia, Sangre Azteca, Vangelis
5) Shocker, Strong Man, Volador Jr. b Averno, Taichi, Último Guerrero

Vangelis fouled Valiente for the DQ. Hmmm.

Mini Damian was wearing a single 6 in his makeup, but CMLL is still listing him as 666. Updates as events warrant.

Semental sizes up the Gran Alternativa competition, offers to buy Taichi a free ticket to Acapulco on Friday so he doesn’t take his spot.  You know, Taichi and Bucanero did have similar fashion tastes. I hope Semental has a backup plan!

Diamante talks about teaming with Sombra. If they win, they need to bring in a Zafiro to make a new trio.

Tiger Kid wants to avenge his family by defeating La Sombra. Also, the random CMLL second match guy he’s feuding with is Sensei.

R de Rudo has text and video with Electroshock. Electro explains he thought the WagnerManiacos were a group effort, with everyone bringing ideas, but did not want to be the lead by Dr. Wagner. Perhaps the name should’ve been a clue about how that one was going to go.  Electro says he does not have Ultimo Gladiador’s cell phone number, so he’s not yet sure what he feels about this situation, but he and Silver King have bonded over feuding with their brothers. Electro is almost positive he’ll be facing Dr. Wagner at TripleMania.

Dos de Tres says LA Park is still negotiating with Dorian Roldan.

Like Mephisto and Averno, Texano says he’s only giving up his NWA (LH) title if he loses it in the ring.

In Colonia Colosio, Tijuana’s Cholo lost his mask to Power Man.

The Gladaitores talk to Oriental about his upcoming appearance in the King of Trios (what background music!), and Signo & Hijo del Signo about Signo’s retirement.

A store in Spain is selling World Cup masks for 1o of the teams, all of the countries’ color and symbols. They remind me of Histeria masks without the horns.

Proyeccion Luchistica has video commentary on Arena Neza and Arena Naucalpan midcard matches.

DJ Spectro writes about Arena Bravo, TJ Extreme losing his hair (new!),

Cesar is very down on both the ex-Vipers/Alebrije running in Puebla and the positive reaction for it on the internet. Three thoughts on this:

  • if you can not find any amusement in Cuije attacking Monito or the CMLL guys going after Cuije, you really need to take this all a bit less seriously.
  • if Psicosis, Histeria, Alebrije and Maniaco are wrestling on the December year end card, something’s has gone horribly wrong. As a short term bit of feuding with guys in Puebla, doing these CMLL vs psuedo-AAA bits but stopping before the novelty wears off, this is a grand idea. If everyone’s on the same page (and some legal bits don’t go right), a CMLL guy should end up with an apuesta win over a TV star, and they’ll probably draw some interested people in between. That’s about it – there’s little they can add to CMLL besides being invaders, and CMLL doesn’t have a need for middling veterans. (Or, if they did, they might as well bring back Olimpico so he can stop asking in magazines.) I’m not too concerned, because I really don’t think this is going to be long term.
  • Yes, the invaders are very much benefiting from the relevancy CMLL is giving them, but CMLL is very much benefiting by running a story that deviates from it’s well worn path. CMLL is too safe and too conservative for their own good (see: Mistico back to being a tecnico) and needs occasional unexpected surprises to keep the more casual fan’s attention. The Gran Alternativa is great, but it’s not for everyone.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 04/19 Arena Puebla
1) King Jaguar & Lestat vs Akron & Ares
2) Eléctrico, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
3) Fuego, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero, Euforia, Pólvora
4) Máscara Dorada, Strong Man, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Taichi, Último Guerrero
5) Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

No sign of the interlopers quite yet. Arena Coliseo tag champs actually teaming!

LLVIO (TUE) 04/20 Salon Chandelier, Hotel Ancaria
1) LA Park & Panthro vs Rey Hechicero & Volador Jr.

Since Park’s not in AAA, I guess this technically a AAA vs CMLL match. Looks a lot like it, though.

CMLL (TUE) 04/20 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Principe Leo vs Virgo
2) El Divino & Magnum vs Acertijo & Ángel del Mal
3) Ebola & Neutrón vs Exterminador & Gallo [Relevos Increíbles]
4) Palacio Negro & Valiente vs Misterioso II & Sangre Azteca
5) Brazo de Plata, Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Texano

Porky but no Asesino Negro.

AAA (THU) 05/06 Cancha German Evers
1) Mario Mora vs el Duro
2) Atomic Boy, Lasser Boy, Relampago vs Black Abyss, Histeria, Psicosis III
3) Shriyu Dragon vs Joe Lider, Espíritu [Money In The Bank, Maztalan Extreme]
4) El Mesías vs Alex Koslov, Jack Evans, Chessman [Copa Mundial de Naciones]

Spot show, but they’re always interesting here. Main event is a four way flag match, with the winner retrieving their own flag. The guys going for the Puerto Rico flag (not actually a nation) and the United States flag are the guys the ones supposed to be cheered, and the guy from Mexico is supposed to be booed. I don’t think that’s going to work out so well. Chessman should reveal his home nation is actually Hell, and have a black flag with a pitch fork on it. Semimain is listed as a Money in the Bank match, so someone here bought WrestleMania. Relampago’s the current champ.

Sunday’s IWRG main event is no longer a tag and now a fourway with the same guys, with titles, hair and masks on the line. Participants are Canek (IWRG IC Heavy), Scorpio Jr. (hair), Pirata Morgan (hair) and Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. (mask.) Normally, I’d be sure this is Canek losing his title without actually losing, but it’s not really like Scorpio or Pirata are above losing their hair in such a fashion at this point in their careers. Possibly relevant history trivia: Canek took Universo 2000’s mask in a four way. Maybe Dianamitas revenge?

AAA video game includes El Brazo, does not include tag matches

1UP says AAA’s video game will not have tag matches. That’s not a good sign for a promotion built on tag matches. Max is four wrestlers in the ring at once.

On the other hand, 1UP’s podcast talks about playing the game and seems pretty charmed by it, even while noting some gameplay issues. What you really want to listen for is the Elegido wackiness. AAA talk starts about 5:55.

During the podcast, there’s a mention of El Brazo being in the game. I would not have guessed that, but he’s added to the list.

For even more Elegido (though mostly just sitting in a chair), he makes an appearance at about 3:55 mark of Gamespot’s the Spot show. This is one of those times La Parka Jr. is mistaken to be LA Park.

Gamespot has Eledigo vs Parka game play video, which seems to give a good feel about how the game will play. They’ve also got video of the entrances; they’re not using the music they use on TV, which isn’t a big surprise.

5) Damián 666 vs X-Fly, ?, Charly Manson, Halloween [hardcore]
6) El Hijo Del Santo, Latin ♥, Marco Corleone vs Blue Demon Jr., el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hijo del Lizmark

That’s the name they have on the poster for Latin Lover. Don’t ask how I can type that.

Lizmark moved to the main event to work opposite Marco, with Latin & Perro against each other too.

Edit 2: The poster turns out to be right; Sabu’s not in that hardcore match right now, but will be in a match on the PPV. Also, it looks like Leo will be in the trios match, not Angel. Anyone want to put over/under on how many edits I end up doing to this post?

Edit:Perros del Mal put up their own lineup, which I’ve added below. Sabu is the mystery person on that poster. No mention of Dreamer. Between the two lineups, we’ve probably got the whole a card, though there’s one match that doesn’t quite work. I’ve edited the post below to make sense of it.

Website is http://www.vivalalucha.com/; very Perros del Mal banner on the top.  They posted a partial lineup posted so far:

PdM (SUN) 05/02 Sala de Armas Magdalena Mixhuca, DF
1) Turbo vs Black Thunder [NWA MEX LIGHT]
2) Estrellita, Leo, Súper Nova vs Medussa, Pesadilla, Ragde
3) Hijo del Lizmark & Oriental vs El Hijo de Rey Misterio & Groon XXX
4) Mr. Águila vs TJP
5) Damián 666 vs X-Fly, Sabu ?, Charly Manson, Halloween [hardcore]
6) El Hijo Del Santo & Marco Corleone vs Blue Demon Jr. & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Poster advertises El Angel, so I would suspect he’s the guy who ends up teaming with Super Nova. (Edit: Or not.) Everyone else is accounted for!

Like the DGUSA PPVs, and ROH PPVs before them, this show will be taped and in advance of airing and repeat many times. This PPV airs in a month DGUSA does not, with the idea that it’d be a regular every other month thing. No price, but it’s probably in the same range as those other shows and depends on the market.

It’s amazing that the Perros del Mal have US PPV, while AAA and CMLL do not. (It’s also amazing that I don’t yet have a way to order this PPV. I’ve got two months to figure it out.)

TJP is TJ Perkins, CMLL Havana Brother of long ago. This is mostly irrelevant to this post, but he’s also working the DGUSA shows and I thought there was some deal where guys had to be PPV exclusive. Probably don’t know what I’m talking about here. His match should be good, and 1/2 should be fun.

top six stories of the last two weeks

1) Perros del Mal and Masked Republic to tape US PPV on May 2nd. This is not totally new; a PPV had been announced but the participants, location and date have all changed. Match wise, this is not actually a big show for the Perros – the hair and mask marches will take place in Tijuana the night before – but it’s still overloaded with names and is more important from a business perspective.

2) After the Casas brothers walked out on Mistico in a trios match, Mistico declared he’s back to being 100% tecnico. This was done abruptly, and Mistico continued to cheat to win matches and still was occasionally booked on rudo sides, but it appears he means what he says. With the exception of lingering Volador/Sombra/Mistico tension, it seems as if CMLL is returning to the status quo before the Mistico turn.

3) Electroshock & Silver King turned on Dr. Wagner Jr. Up until now, they build had been towards Electro being kciked out of the group, but when things finally broke down between Wagner & Electro, Silver King surprisingly attacked his brother and threw in with Electroshock. It looks like Ultimo Gladiador will be sticking with the rudos, which leaves Dr. Wagner with…Pimpinela? (Or maybe this is just a clever way to phase out Wagner should he not decide to stay around.)

4) A bunch of ex-AAA wrestlers made a run-in on Monday’s CMLL Arena Puebla show, attacking tecnicos. The group included Histeria, Psicosis, Alebrije, Maniaco Even Cuije was in on the rudo sneak attack, taking out Monito. This is definitely the first part of a bigger story, but the scope of the angle is unknown – will it go beyond Arena Puebla? Will it include other former AAA or current Perros del Mal wrestlers?

5) The AAA video game, “Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes en el Ring 2011″ got a US distributor and a release date. Konami will be releasing the game August 8th, and earlier reviews were high on the graphics but not as much on the gameplay. WWE video games sell well and TNA’s game flopped, so brand recognition means a lot, but TNA’s game might have sunk more for the gameplay and the story. This seems like a longshot to do well right away, but it’s a long shot I’m excited for. The trailer is really strong.

6) After a couple weeks of not getting along with his partners, Hector Garza appears headed back to the rudo side. Garza, still trios champ with tecnicos Fantasma and Mascara, is booked on the rudo side on Friday (w/Polvora in the Gran Alternativa) and Sunday (feuding with Strong Man)

Ex-AAA wrestlers invade Puebla, Monterrey, full AAA video game roster?

CMLL (MON) 04/12 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Centauro de Fuego, Fuerza Chicana, Toro Bill Sr. b Asturiano, Black Tiger, Crazy Black
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata b Hooligan, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Virus b Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, La Sombra
4) Brazo de Plata, Místico, Strong Man b Averno, Terrible, Texano
5) Máscara Dorada b Dragon Rojo Jr. [CMLL SL]

(colosseti @ SML, el vagabundo @ box y lucha) The big news wasn’t the title match, but the run-ins after the third match. Ex-AAA wrestlers (and occasional Perros del Mal wrestlers) Psicosis, Histeria, Maniaco, Alebrije and Cuije attacked Sombra, Fantasma and Mascara after the terecera, Cuije even taking out Monito! Mistico, Porky and Strong Man ran out for the save, but were attacked by Averno, Terrible & Texano, out for the next match. The ex-AAAs had arrived in a black SUV, and jumped back in to escape before anyone else caught up with them. I wonder if Hijo de LA Park was the getaway driver this time too?

It’ll be interesting to see where this goes from here. I’m betting multiman cage match in Puebla, because that seems to be the idea CMLL is stuck on this month. Running the angle in Puebla probably means it’s a Puebla-only angle. The Perros often talk about how everyone in their company is free to work wherever they want, so they should be fine with this (and probably happy for the extra attention.) The other way is interesting; might there be some thawing between CMLL and the Perros? It’s not the guys wearing the Perros shirts, which would mean a whole lot more, but CMLL could’ve still put the veto down if they wanted nothing to do with this group.

Dorada beat Dragon clean to retain the title. Semimain ended with Mistico & Averno in the ring, and now it’s only laziness stopping me from flipping him back green. I can not believe they’re hitting the reset button, but maybe they’ll hit it so hard that we can get the Black Warrior feud again. Taichi fouled Fantasma for a two fall loss; Fantasma already hurting played into the attack.

AAA (SUN) 04/11 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Darling BoyPedro NavajasBabe Fox
2) Angel Dorado Jr., Babe Rap, SkyAndroide, Lover Boy, Rey Sagitario
3) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz DQ Golden Boy, Rey Demonio Jr., Simbolo
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana
5) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr.Chessman, Joe Lider, Sobredosis

After the tecnicos won clean, Parka challenged Chessman to a mask vs hair match. I guess it never hurts to ask.

Psycho Clowns won in straight falls. No word on the DQ in the tercera, just that the losers wanted a super libre rematch.

Wolfgamers, a site I’ve never heard of previously and appears to be very new, has a list of the complete AAA Video Game roster. The numbers don’t add up with what’s been said elsewhere (41 instead of 31) so I have questions about this accuracy here, but it’s close enough to give us something to talk about. Almost everyone who you think should be in makes it in – Latin, Aerostar, Laredo and Escoria are the biggest misses, and I still think I saw Escoria in the latest trailer. Otherwise, everyone most everyone I thought should be in but hadn’t turned up (Hermandad!), and some people I wasn’t expecting did as well: both Stones, May & Pimpi, Gronda & Groon (even though he wasn’t supposedly in the company when they froze the roster) and even four mini tecnicos. Which actually makes the lack of mini rudos another miss.

Fray Tormenta won his match.

Ultimo Dragon is back in Mexico, teaming with guys he doens’t know, facing guys he can’t remember, wrestling in front of sub 100 people crowds. I imagine this is not unusual for indy stars.

Estrellas del Ring talks with the original AAA Payasos, who want to return to the ring this year. NO.
