Tech Exports: Where States Stack Up

Tech exports, one of the bright spots of the U.S. economy, declined 3% nationwide, to $214 billion, last year, according to a study released on Sept. 23 by the American Electronics Assn. (AeA), a nonprofit organization, formerly known as the American Electronics Assn., that studies the tech industry. The first decline since 2002 reflects a softening in demand in key countries including South Korea and Japan.

The slump wasn't felt universally, though. Some states, including Florida, Virginia, and Tennessee, had sharp tech export increases. This slide show highlights the 25 biggest tech exporting states.
