Simon Grayson celebrates at Old Trafford

Last weekend's 1-0 win against Manchester United has earned Leeds United the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award.

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were all in agreement that the award should go to Leeds.

Manager Simon Grayson will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to be screened on Sky Soccer Saturday this weekend.

Jermaine Beckford was the match winner, sliding the ball past Tomas Kuszczak after an excellent pass by Johnny Howson after 19 minutes.

Leeds who have lost only two games all season, were also unbeaten in 15 matches and were roared on by 9,000 travelling supporters.

Forty-two league places separated the sides prior to kick-off with Leeds top of Coca-Cola League One and Manchester United in second place in the Barclays Premier League.

After the match, the boss was delighted with the result and performance that earned his side a fourth round trip to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur.

"Obviously I am very proud of my team and what they've done today," he said. "We worked very hard and I feel we deserved this win.

"I told the lads before the game to go out and make themselves proud whether they won or not and they've done that.

"We knew we could hurt them today and this signalled how well we've been playing all season.

"This win is for the fans, who have stuck by us in every game. Once again, they were great and they deserve this."
