New Jersey's 18th Annual LGBTI Pride Celebration sponsored by Bank of America and presented by Jersey Pride will be held on Sunday, June 7th in Asbury Park, NJ. The Pride Celebration takes place from noon to 7 PM, rain or shine. It features a parade, headline performers, great food, arts and crafts, exhibits and community information, activities for the entire family, and the best in local, regional and national entertainment. All are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The entertainment stage will rock this year as Evelyn “Champagne” King, the Cliks, and Kinsey Sicks take center stage. Evelyn always seems to dazzle the audience with her vibrant personality, as well as her strong seductive voice. Her electric performances accentuate her remarkable vocal ability as she delivers songs ranging from smooth ballads to party jumping, funk knocking jams. Her long list of hits include “I’m In Love”, “Love Come Down”, “Hold On to What You’ve Got”, “I Don’t Know If It’s Right”, and her disco classic “Shame”. The hard rocking Toronto trio, the Cliks are the first transgender band to be signed with a major record label. Their hot new CD “Dirty Kings” is due to drop on June 23rd. Get a sneak peak of this rock extravaganza at the Pride Celebration. With a phenomenal performance record that includes an Off-Broadway show, an extended run in Vegas, two feature films, six CDs, and appearances throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe, the Kinsey Sicks hardly need an introduction. For over 15 years America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet has served up a feast of music and comedy to audiences at performing arts centers, music venues and comedy festivals in every kind of town you can imagine, in over 40 states.
Emcee, Mr. Stefon Royce is full of surprises and you never know what to expect from this Drag King Extraordinaire. He currently walks Butch Body and Sex Siren for the House of Legacy International. Among his many pageant conquests is the Mr. Illusions New Jersey International Male Pageant. Rounding out the performance stage will be Christine Havrilla, Todd Alsup, LALA, Billy, Kendall, and Xavier Raye.
The pride parade, complete with floats, decorated vehicles, motorcycles, and hundreds of marchers, will step off at Main Street and Cookman Avenue at noon. The festival and entertainment grounds are located at 5th and Kingsley Avenues. More than one hundred artisans, crafters, merchants, and community organizations, as well as over a dozen food establishments will have goods, services, and information available. Among the many unique exhibits on the festival grounds is the newest area the “Zen Zone”. The Zen Zone celebrates personal and planetary wellness, with yoga, meditation, a heart circle, and discussions on greening our lives. Among the many activities planned in the Zen Zone will be an Out of The Box open reading facilitated by Pandora Scooter. For a schedule of activities at the Zen Zone, click here. Families will enjoy games and rides in the “Family Zone”, sponsored by Prudential.
Jersey Pride strives to promote community participation and visibility between lesbians, gay men, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed people and the general public of New Jersey. Jersey Pride is the 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that produces the annual Pride parade, rally and festival that celebrates the culture and diversity of NJ's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexed community.
