Newswire For The Week of December 6th
Tuesday, December 08, 2009

December 11th: Ring of Honor is disappointed to have to inform the fans of Manassas, VA that due to unexpected scheduling issues, Jack Evans and Teddy Hart will not be able to appear on December 18th as intended. Both Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov will still be a part of the Manassas main event as it will now be contested as a Six Man Tag Team Attraction. All four AAA talents will be at Final Battle 2009 in New York. We profoundly apologize for this unfortunate and unexpected situation, and we ARE sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

December 11th: The most recent Ring of Honor Videowire is online and available for viewing at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4zi1slKgDE. As ROH is on the final road to Final Battle weekend, check out interviews from Roderick Strong and Tyler Black, ROH World Champion Austin Aries and The Briscoes discuss their championship matches in New York, and we get a promise from Eddie Kingston as he prepares for his unsanctioned Fight Without Honor against “that Young Knockout Kid” Chris Hero (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=3113). Plus Claudio Castagnoli, Kevin Steen, and we get words from Colt Cabana after the disappointment of losing in the cage.

December 11th: Holden McNeil takes a look at the Kevin Steen and El Generico versus Young Bucks match at Final Battle that now has an added layer of depth due to Steen’s recent uncertainty. Check out http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=3115 for a look into speculation as it pertains to Steen’s knee, possible retirement, and rumors of a split with El Generico.

December 11th: Signed for Final Battle 2009 on December 19th is a grudge tag team battle! Prince Nana unleashed Erick Stevens on the Necro Butcher in Chicago and chaos ensued. Now, he brings back the mammoth Bison Smith to help finish the job. Last time Bison and Necro stood eye-to-eye on HDNet a wild brawl erupted throughout the arena. Now Stevens and Bison aim to bury Necro in Manhattan. But Necro isn’t coming alone, he’s bringing an old friend along to help him, and this man is just as deranged. It will be Bison Smith and Erick Stevens versus the Necro Butcher and Delirious next Saturday night! This one is sure to be wild!

December 8th: Fans left the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago in shock as last Saturday’s ROH World Championship Steel Cage match between Austin Aries and Colt Cabana came to a conclusion under the most unexpected of circumstances. As the two combatants went at it for near 30 minutes, both losing blood, it appeared that Cabana finally had Aries reeling. After bouncing “A-Double” pillar-to-post and off of the sides of the steel mesh, Cabana had rendered the champion trapped between the ring ropes and the corner supports of the cage. With the crowd on its feet, Cabana prepared to deliver his signature running posterior attack, and took to flight. What happened next no one expected. As Cabana plowed into Aries, the champion was driven into the steel. The cheers of the crowd quickly turned to awe as the cage structure gave way, with Aries shooting through the side of the mesh, propelling him off the ringside table and chairs, and leaving his body in a heap on the ringside floor near the guard rails. Referee Todd Sinclair and Cabana couldn’t believe what they had just seen, and ROH on HDNet Executive Producer Jim Cornette and President Cary Silkin rushed the scene. Sinclair declared that Aries, being the first to “escape” the cage, was the winner of the match, and as was stipulated before the match, this means that Colt Cabana will NEVER receive another ROH World Title match in Chicago.

December 8th: With Aries’ stunning victory in Chicago, 2009 only holds one more scheduled title defense for “the greatest man that ever lived”. And all roads lead to New York City for “Final Battle 2009”. One year in the making, it will be Tyler Black versus Austin Aries with the World Title on the line. For an incredible video lead in to this matchup, check out http://www.you-tube.com/watch?v=Sq_e-7lfsy0. Black has without question had “ups and downs” in 2009. But, since his return back to action from Aries’ fireball attack on HDNet, Black has been a force going undefeated. And on December 19th, he has a chance to right all of the wrongs, to make Austin Aries pay for what he’s done, and to finally live up to the potential that every fan of ROH has seen in him from the beginning. Can Black become World Champion at Final Battle, or will Austin Aries once-and-for-all prove that he’s as great as he’s been telling everybody? Select tickets for the biggest event of ROH’s year still remain at www.rohwrestling.com and if you can’t be in New York, then be with us LIVE on iPPV at www.gofightlive.tv!

December 8th: Eddie Kingston has been on record as saying he wants another shot at Chris Hero. From his emotional interview before the Glory By Honor VIII match (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUg52X9eeWI) to Hero’s retort from Japan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDLxeTpvL0c) to Jim Cornette’s proclamation that another match WILL take place (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E0PhKum6kY), the anticipation has been mounting. We can now confirm that Hero and Kingston will lock horns one more time, and it will take place at Final Battle! As was stated in Cornette’s announcement, Kingston gets his match, but Hero gets to name the game. What stipulation will Chris Hero choose? ROH officials have sent word to Camp Hero asking for a response to Cornette’s proclamation and once we know what rules Hero chooses, we’ll report it! Stay tuned to www.rohwrestling.com for more as it develops!

December 8th: Signed to appear on January 8th and 9th in Philadelphia as part of the next ROH on HDNet National Television Tapings: The Dark City Fight Club, Kenny King, Rhett Titus, The Necro Butcher, “Skullkrusher” Rasche Brown, Delirious with Daizee Haze, and The Briscoe Brothers. We’ll have more names and TV main events soon, right here in the ‘Wire.

December 8th: ROH on HDNet Executive Producer Jim Cornette promised Colt Cabana after his controversial and crushing loss in the cage last week in Chicago that he’d get him back into a position to once more crack the Pick 6 Contenders Standings. Cornette has kept his word. Signed for Manassas, VA on December 18th is Colt Cabana versus Chris Hero! Hero is currently ranked number 3 in the Pick 6, while Cabana ended up on the outside looking in after Chicago. Can “Boom Boom” regain his footing, or will “That Young Knockout Kid” rack up another win on his way to Final Battle? Be there in Manassas and find out!
