Police have released the name of a man whose body was found in a burning car in Burnaby last week.

John William Hanna, 25, was discovered in the car by firefighters called to extinguish the blaze just before 4 a.m. Thursday in the 5600-block Clinton Avenue, near the intersection of Plum Avenue.

Neighbours reported hearing yelling and four gunshots before seeing the car engulfed in flames.

Police have not released the cause of death, but say it was a targeted killing.
