Broken Stands Out on Adventure Man

Roisin Kiernan for Rivmixx reports that the standout track on Adventure Man is most certainly “Broken.” It was an excellent choice, then, to select “Broken” for the lead-off single for the album – as it is getting plenty of radio airplay and captivating the interest of a number of critics and music bloggers.

It seems that there are plenty of fans who remember Eg White from his collaboration with Alice Turner, 24 Years of Hunger.  One of them is the blogger behind Redunda, who in addition to her positive review of Adventure Man made “Weird Friendless Kid” available to stream from the site.

Eg White’s follow-up to the 1996 critically acclaimed Turn Me on, I’m a Rocket Man is long overdue, according to a review by Mark Glenning for the UK music site Glasswerk.  Though Eg was a recent recipient of an Ivor Novello (not his first), there are still some out there who aren’t familiar with Eg’s long history in the music business – but that doesn’t mean they haven’t heard a song or two written by Eg. He’s been behind a number of hits by big name acts such as Adele and Duffy (think “Chasing Pavements” and “Warwick Avenue”).

It may appear that Eg White is not content with being one of the most sought-after songwriters in the UK, but it’s just not so.  Though it’s true Eg is stepping into the limelight with his recent release Adventure Man, fame was never something he was betting on.  Afraid that this may be his last chance to make his own album, Eg agreed to put out a record only after the label approached him first.
