Possible New Michael Jackson Song “Another Day” Leaks, Gets Yanked From Web

1/4/10, 9:03 am EST

The new year kicked off with a potentially new unearthed Michael Jackson song. A snippet of a track called “Another Day,” reportedly sung by the King of Pop, hit the Web over New Year’s weekend. “Another Day” appears to be Jackson’s version of Lenny Kravitz’s “Storm,” a song that appeared on the rocker’s 2004 album Baptism and featured a guest spot by Jay-Z. The Huffington Post writes that “Another Day” was reportedly a duet between Jackson and Kravitz, but Kravitz doesn’t seem to appear on the 90-second snippet. “Another Day” appears to have emerged via Jackson fan site MJ Star.

Look back at Michael Jackson’s life and career, in photos.

In the days following Jackson’s June 25, 2009 death, Kravitz penned a letter to Spinner about Jackson, writing, “I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio. He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time.” It remains unclear whether Kravitz worked with Jackson on “Another Day,” or whether their collaboration resulted in another song.

If “Another Day” proves to be legitimate, it’ll be the second track from Jackson’s vault of unreleased material to find its way to the streets. In July 2009, 24 seconds of a Jackson song called “A Place With No Name,” a reinterpretation of America’s 1971 hit “A Horse With No Name,” leaked. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Jackson’s manager Frank DeLeo told RS that Jackson left behind hard drives full of unreleased songs featuring collaborations with artists like Ne-Yo, Akon and Will.i.am, plus leftover material from the ’80s. “There are a couple of songs we recorded for the Bad album that we had to cut that are just sensational,” DiLeo told RS.

UPDATE: In a video posted on TwitVid, Lenny Kravitz said he isn’t responsible for the leaked song as his copy “has been locked up in a vault,” and that the two DJs who are name-checked at the beginning of the leaked snippet played no part in the actual recording of the song. “The version that is out is a minute-thirty seconds of the track, not mixed, but it is the track,” Kravitz said. “The song was recorded by Michael himself, I produced it for him, I wrote the song and I played all the instruments.” Kravitz adds that he hopes the fans eventually get to hear the song in its entirety “the way me and Michael intended it to be.”

According to TMZ, Sony Music and the Jackson estate are actively deleting all snippets of “Another Day” from Websites like YouTube. Watch Kravitz’s entire video statement below:

I am sooo looking forward to more MJ material! the track snippet is great. and i can imagine that Lenny Kravitz thought the studio experience with MJ amazing — who wouldn’t!

Amazing!!!

UCLA | 1/4/2010, 10:04 am EST

He would never never had agreed to do 50 shows if he had money. He had no money. Was not getting exposure as before in either TV media or press hence his popularity waned and his bank balance. Michael had debts and its amazing how he was in all the media after his death. If only the world media had given him like that when he was living, the hello magazines, the music channels who wouldnt stop playing him after he died and all those people, even in the early part of 2009, he would have backed out of the shows and would have been alive today. The only reason he agreed was the money. So sad the doctors at UCLA are not good at all. You rarely hear of a celeb that goes in there that comes out alive. Sad

cayda | 1/4/2010, 10:08 am EST

cool

Bill | 1/4/2010, 10:13 am EST

@UCLA…The funny thing is….it’s all “experts” and “know-it-all newspaper reading public” that thinks Michael was in-fact in debt. He had hundereds of millions when he did the bad tour, and he did more than 50 shows then, so your point is invalid. My dad doesn’t know my bank balance and we live in the same house, so how do all these people know Michael’s bank balance? Wake up mate.

Angie | 1/4/2010, 10:17 am EST

UCLA comment is one of the stupidiest Ive ever read here.

Angie | 1/4/2010, 10:20 am EST

OK, MJS version in awesome!!!! you know what they meant when they say MJ put so much feeling in his music, youcan feel what hes singing about.

Fools remember THIS IS IT | 1/4/2010, 10:32 am EST

He worked till his last breath: Proof is THIS IS IT CONCERT.

He was not has been. He sold out 1 million tickets in 4 hours, inspite of glitches on ticketmaster.

So shut up about popularity waning. He was popular among the people who mattered. lol..

Lana | 1/4/2010, 10:56 am EST

LOve the Mj Song!! I really hope they will release it as a single or maybe on an album of unreleased material:D

bob | 1/4/2010, 11:03 am EST

Sarah | 1/4/2010, 11:05 am EST

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I really really hope this ends up on the next record they put out. Long live the King!

JJ | 1/4/2010, 11:16 am EST

This track is faithful to the later more mature Michael. Invincible is marvelous art, and not appreaciated to this day. Too bad – so many are missing out! This cut reminds me of that, and those times, which are not very long ago. Release it…and see where it goes. To Grammy-Land! :D

blondy | 1/4/2010, 11:36 am EST

love this song
they should release it asap

Nyla | 1/4/2010, 11:50 am EST

The best part of this song is Jackson. He has such a beautiful voice, the interruptions by the dj/rapper are annoying.

brian | 1/4/2010, 12:33 pm EST

nice that there’s a bunch of songs left over to release. lets hear ‘em.

sweet lady | 1/4/2010, 12:54 pm EST

skinny | 1/4/2010, 1:01 pm EST

van | 1/4/2010, 2:31 pm EST

UCLA- MJ owns the beatles catalogue worth almost a billion. And even his own and other artist. So no matter how big his debt was im sure that’s not his main problem at all because he know he’s fully loaded!

Laura | 1/4/2010, 2:57 pm EST

Unfortunately, MJ was dead before he got to UCLA. Think about it, it doesn’t take one but a couple minutes to die. He was more than likely dead before they called 911.
Sad but true. The human body can not continue to function once it has stopped breathing and then they had to send the ambulance which takes awhile and drive then again to the hospital. Hell no he was not alive when he arrived at UCLA. Blame this on his doctor at the house. He should have prevented this and people that knew of his problems should have put him in a rehab.

Anonymous | 1/4/2010, 3:43 pm EST

MJ did not own the entire Beatles catalogue (aka ATV/Northern Songs). He only owned a portion of it. Still a huge deal, but just wanted to politely make a correction there.

Anonymous | 1/4/2010, 3:43 pm EST

And Laura…. What the hell are you going on about?

eric | 1/4/2010, 6:04 pm EST

Who cares anyway. MJ sucked

wicky wacky whoo | 1/4/2010, 6:32 pm EST

how does one own the rights to the beatles catalogue become broke? i ‘m just saying………..

Layla | 1/4/2010, 7:24 pm EST

@eric: Which begs the question… then why are you here?

Brian | 1/4/2010, 7:44 pm EST

Eric shut up Micheal Jackson is the most awarded artist in music history . He holds the Guinness book of world records for the most successful entertainer of all time.

Thrilled | 1/4/2010, 7:57 pm EST

All three songs, leaked or released after his passing, are enchanting. MJ songs are so rich both vocally and emotionally.

Who cares? Many, including those who bought This is it album and made it No. 1 on the chart.
You’ll find out more once more MJ songs get released.

If anybody who owned the rights to the beatles catalogue become broke, the catalogue must have sucked…

Weffie | 1/4/2010, 8:09 pm EST

I hope this furious “clean-up” by Sony means that they plan on releasing stuff soon.

Anonymous | 1/4/2010, 8:51 pm EST

i wouldnt count on seeing any posthumous albums with unreleased songs, until next holiday season, at the earliest.

Anonymous | 1/4/2010, 8:56 pm EST

Brian,

How does one measure success? Album sales and awards? Both of those are pretty meaningless to me. Album sales are usually the result of huge costly marketing campaigns, and awards are typically pointless.

Anyhow.

Michael did release a lot of amazing, brilliant music.

But he’s released a great deal of horrible stuff too.

Me | 1/5/2010, 12:50 pm EST

MJ, in fact, was still more popular than any other person/celebrity/politician up until he died and beyond. If album sales and awards don’t mean a thing then the Beatles and Elvis must suck too. Say what you will, but you cannot deny MJ’s talent and achievements, ever!! Also about his “debts” I seriously don’t believe any at all, and if so, not that much. MJ will ALWAYS be the BEST and people loved him when HE was ALIVE too, selling out concerts in minutes with no new music speaks volumes!!!

R.I.P. KING MJ

Types of telepathy

Parapsychology describes several different forms of telepathy, including latent telepathy and precognitive telepathy.

Latent Telepathy, formerly known as “deferred telepathy”, is described as being the transfer of information, through Psi, with an observable time-lag between transmission and receipt.

Retrocognitive, Precognitive, and Intuitive Telepathy is described as being the transfer of information, through Psi, about the past, future or present state of an individual’s mind to another individual.

Emotive Telepathy, also known as remote influence or emotional transfer, is the process of transferring kinesthetic sensations through altered states.

Superconscious Telepathy, involves tapping into the superconscious to access the collective wisdom of the human species for knowledge.

IN SAYING THIS, WOULDN’T IT BE NICE TO KNOW WHO WILL CAUSE HARM OR BE GOOD TO AND FOR YOU. WOULDN’T IT BE NICE TO HAVE ALL THE NEGATIVE PAINFUL STUFF REMOVED OR ZAPPED OUT OF THE MIND AND ONLY REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES IN LIFE. I WISH THAT FOR MYSELF ALOT. THAT WAY THERE WOULD BE LESS PAIN AND HURT IN THE WORLD. PEOPLE COULD LIVE LIFE BETTER. ALL THINGS REPLACED WITH LOVE AND JOY. THAT’S INTERESTING AND THAT ALSO IS MAGIC. I THINK THAT IS INTERESTING AND LOOKING UP INFORMATION TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THAT. NO, IM NOT CRAZY IM JUST CURIOUS AND INTERESTED.

JEN | 1/5/2010, 6:06 pm EST

DARN, I MISSED OUT ON THE, ANOTHER DAY, SONG.

JEN | 1/5/2010, 6:07 pm EST

MAYBE I WILL GET TO HEAR IT ANOTHER DAY. HA HA JUST KIDDING

JEN | 1/5/2010, 6:10 pm EST

SORRY, JUST SOME OF MY DUH HUMOR.

JEN | 1/5/2010, 6:15 pm EST

I LIKE Lenny K. music as well.

JEN | 1/5/2010, 6:26 pm EST

that should be a very interesting song. Mix. COOL!

JEN | 1/6/2010, 3:15 am EST

HAVE I FREAKED YOU OUT YET? Telepathy talk. This is thriller. ha ha ha ha….
I could not imagine being the most famous and talented person in the world. That would be tough and hard to deal with.

toddpacker | 1/6/2010, 2:46 pm EST

Im sure the song sucks like the rest of his music

Jason Seaver | 1/6/2010, 3:00 pm EST

I thought the unreleased song by MJ was called My Kapowski…

Rachel | 1/7/2010, 4:12 am EST

@Angie you’re wrong.. your comment is the most stupid one on this page so far.. Get a life loser. @UCLA is right, if you’ve seen This is it you’ll see that micheal was in NO STATE to do those concerts and he was in fucking debt and ‘@Bill’ What the was your retarded comment about? Your dad doesn’t know your bank balance automatically means the world doesn’t know Micheals? HELLO! This is Mj we’re talking about, everything about his life is made pretty much public. Maybe not in detail, but it was a fact that he was in debt. He really never would of done those 50 shows, atleast not until he actually felt ready for it, he was forced into it if u ask me.

If people would have given half as much about micheal before his dead and they did after his death, he’d be alive.

Glenda | 1/7/2010, 5:12 pm EST

I miss Michael Jackson so much it hurts.

Glenda | 1/7/2010, 5:14 pm EST
