Concern fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims

This Friday 15th January, weekly Rock' n' Roll club Shakedown will be fundraising for Concern Worldwide’s Emergency Appeal, for those affected by the earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday evening.

Thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of people are feared dead after the 7.0 magnitude quake caused massive damage across the already devastatingly poor country. Concern is seeking urgent donations and has released €250,000 from its emergency fund to respond immediately. The organisation is seeking further donations amounting to €5million.

Shakedown is a weekly rock 'n' roll club in Pacino's on Suffolk Street, Dublin 2. It is run by Candice Gordon and features up and coming original Irish bands such as The Hot Sprockets, The Last Tycoons and The Mighty Atomics, amongst others. Candice travelled to Haiti herself only a few months ago to help build houses for local people with the charity Haven and in the wake of this current disaster is eager to raise desperately needed funds. This week Shakedown will feature Kaplin and Grum, followed by "karaoke kidnap" in which people nominate their friends to sing for a donation to the cause. It is free admission into the club. Pacino's will be donating 15% of the bar's takings plus the bar takings on all purchases of Heineken to the Concern Worldwide Emergency Appeal.

The night starts at 11pm and runs until 2:30am.
