The top five of the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 remained unchanged, with then unbeatens No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Kentucky leading the way.

And then the Longhorns went out and lost. Texas (17-1) received 30 of 31 first-place votes in the poll, released Monday afternoon, and that night fell to Kansas State 71-62.

The Wildcats (18-0), who were idle Monday, received the remaining first-place vote from the panel of 31 Division I coaches.

No. 3 Kansas, No. 4 Villanova and No. 5 Syracuse remained in the same positions as last week as well.

Syracuse beat Notre Dame in a Big East battle on Monday.

Duke, Michigan State, Tennessee, Kansas State and Gonzaga round out the top 10.

North Carolina was the biggest mover in the poll, plummeting 10 spots to No. 23 thanks to losses at No. 16 Clemson and at home to No. 18 Georgia Tech last week. Clemson climbed three spots in the poll.

Purdue and Pittsburgh also made dramatic moves in the poll, albeit in opposite directions.

Purdue, which was ranked No. 6 last week, plunged nine spots to No. 15 after losses to No. 25 Ohio State and Northwestern. The Boilermakers have lost three in a row.

Pittsburgh, meanwhile, jumped nine spots to No. 11, thanks to a pair of Big East wins over No. 21 Connecticut and Louisville. The Huskies fell six spots from No. 15.

Entering the poll this week were Ohio State and No. 22 Northern Iowa. Falling out were previous No. 24 Baylor and former No. 25 Florida State.
