On Monday on CNN, anchor Wolf Blitzer showed video footage of CNN's Anderson Cooper and his crew on the ground in Haiti caught up in the middle of a chaotic, bloody scene. The footage was shot during a store looting when things spiraled out of control and looters began hurling rocks and chunks of concrete. A boy was struck by a rock and had blood pouring down his forehead. In the video, Cooper supports and then carries the boy to safer grounds.

Cooper was the first major news anchor on the ground in Haiti. "On a story like this you need to see it with your own eyes," he wrote on his blog. Watch his first report from the earthquake shaken region here, and follow him on twitter, where he's been chronicling his journey, here.

WARNING: The video is very graphic and contains disturbing images.

Anderson Cooper has done a yeoman's job of reporting and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty. He did the right thing with that boy and he didn't care if he got bloody either. The remarks below are very immature. I would put him against mr neatnik keep my hands and shirt clean Williams. One thing did get me tho when Cooper was ranting about aid not getting in but a DEMOCRATIC governor got in to rescue 26 children and take them away. I understand that he was angry that the aid was not coming and I agree...but he did not have to identify party on the govenor from PA getting kids out who have adoptive parents in PA. I do question why he could get in and the Doctors without Borders couldn't. That is greivous. Otherwise..I have really appreciated Anderson's reports. And Gupta's too.

It's nice to see that some of these journalists understand their humanitarian priorities. Human lives are important... everything else is secondary, including your job.

Good job, AC.

So to all you people giving Cooper all these blessings, where was cable news 1 year ago in Haiti when they had a awful awful water issue. I donated, and the only people in media that I saw or heard anything from was Warren Ballentine & Wyclef THAT'S IT! No report from cnn or others. A few did cover the story & always covers stories about the poor & hurt peoples of earth BBC & HDNet World Report, & Democracy Now! thats it. NOW all the big media is all over it, please remember Katrina. The media including this guy were all over that area but now... nothing WAKE UP SHEOPLE ! THIS IS FOR PROFIT FOR BIG MEDIA & YOU'RE ALL CHEWING ON THEIR GRASS TO PRODUCE MORE MONEY FOR THEM!

anderson cooper impresses me consistently. he is probably the only actual journalist that CNN has managed to keep on their staff. this reminds me of his coverage of katrina where he was so angry and upset he became teary on camera.

Bill O'reily would have spit in the kids face after downing a beer and eating a dozen hot wings while the kid was bleeding. Bill doesn't like black people, fact. Anderson has always had the plight of the people heavy on his mind and there are few correspondents who fall into the category. Too much money in radio styled newscasts these days where anything goes and to hell with anything that comes close to the truth. Keep beating that ideological drum Fox News and MSNBC, most Americans are smart enough to sniff out BS when we see it and we have little respect for those people who treat the stations as the one and only truth.

CNN has a video that show the whole sequence of events. While reporting on the looting over a three block area. They saw the concrete block hit the boy and he was laying in the street in the middle of the fighting and more concrete being thrown. Had he left him there..who knows what would have happened to him. The kid once he came to was so shaken and confused he could barely keep on his feet. Anderson then scooped the boy up and attempted to hand him over the barricade to the police and the security personnel. It was a street that had been blocked off by an American store owner and some police to prevent looting. He rushed the injured boy to them. They grabbed him, immediately put a towel to the wound and ran him towards a truck..hopefully to get him to a hospital.

I agree. I'm not there, so I am not going to criticize someone who has the balls to be there.

Someone is throwing bricks at someone's head and I am going to sit back in my comfortable surroundings and criticize? Sorry, to all the women out there, but if I was there, I would man up and not be a pus/sy. Again, I'm not there, so I will not "criticize" those who are.

I love women, but just trying to make a point :)

Poor boy, doing what came naturally. Here's aa child with a life time to grow his Character, Values andsense of morality. And, now because of Anderson he will have that chance to live, grow and give back to humanity.

Between that child and "Calltoaction" is exhibity the " balance of nature" principle in action: " light and dark "Hope and hopelessness" "day & night', good an evil"

Unknown chile lifts up my heart.--my day is full of light.

So, he's a little boy. Would you be the one to just stand there and let him bleed, or would you jump in and help him? I know what I would do, no matter what I would help him. No matter what.

So. What would you do if you were in that situation - hungry, scared, thirsty, lost. I don't blame the looters, really. They are doing it out of desperation. He's a young kid getting caught up in chaos. How thoughtless you are.
