Neil Kilkenny heads home against Accrington

Neil Kilkenny has won the Ultimate Finish award for his superb goal in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The midfielder's header at Elland Road against Accrington Stanley in his side's northern area semi-final 2-0 win was voted as the goal of the round.

Hundreds of Leeds United fans voted for Kilkenny's header, beating Norwich's Gary Doherty and Carlisle United's Matty Robson who were also shortlisted.

Darren Longthorne of Leeds was picked at random from everyone who voted for Neil. He wins an ipod nano and will present him with his award ahead of the home game with Colchester on January 30.

After each round a video of the best goals are displayed on the Johnstone's Paint Trophy website for fans to log on and vote for their favorite from all the goals shortlisted. Neil's emphatic finish came out on top for this round, with 63 per cent of fans voting it as their 'ultimate finish'.

It beat Matty Robson's goal for Carlisle United against Bradford City into second place (22 per cent) with Doherty third (15 per cent) for his effort at Southampton.

Neil said: "It's always good to score. I look to contribute with as many goals as I can and it's nice that the Leeds fans voted for it to win the award."

Winning supporter Darren said: "This has made my day! I am a big Leeds United fan and it means so much to get the chance to present one of my heroes with the award."

Johnstone's Paint Trophy's sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick added: "Our Ultimate Finish area semi-final award has been the most popular yet. Hundreds of people voted and we thank everyone for taking part."

After the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final, fans and customers will then have the opportunity to vote for the 'Best 3 Goals of the Season.' The winning goalscorers will be presented with a "Johnstone's Paint Ultimate Finish of the Season Award" and one lucky entrant will win a fantastic Sony Playstation 3 console with latest Fifa game.
