BiographyAmanda Louise Seyfried was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on December 3, 1985. The daughter of a pharmacist and a therapist, she had dreams of becoming a meteorologist, but soon turned her sights on acting and modeling. In her early teens, Amanda Seyfried was signed by New York's Wilhelmina for a series of modeling gigs, including print work for Mizz Magazine and three cover shots for Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley High novels.
While modeling, Amanda Seyfried took voice lessons and acted on stage in New York productions of Grease and A Christmas Carol. She also got a taste of TV as an extra on The Guiding Light. In 2000, Amanda Seyfried got her biggest break yet as the rich girl, Lucie Montgomery, on As the World Turns, but after just a month, she left the show as a result of creative conflicts. In 2002, Amanda Seyfried found another soap opera role on All My Children, but a year later, she enrolled at Fordham University, believing that her acting career had sputtered out.
