Ubisoft says that its ditching the somewhat controversial StarForce digital rights management software in favor of an online-only access system to all its PC games. This strategy is meant to thwart would-be game pirates.
This decision raises questions on both sides of the DRM debate. On the one hand, opponents of DRM software will be pleased to skip it when playing PC games. On the other hand, being an on-line only service means players must always have Internet access to enjoy their games.
