The reason why Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was named to the Pro Bowl as a fourth alternate is because third alternate Carson Palmer is recovering from thumb surgery.

Palmer had thumb surgery last week, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Palmer was slated to go to the Jan. 31 all-star game, but thumb injury that plagued him for the majority of the season had already been addressed.

Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was named to the game as an injury replacement for Wes Welker.

When I saw this headline, with the number of players dropping out of the PB, I thought maybe it was about Arnold Palmer.
