Cricket: England were yesterday handed the perfect preparation in their quest to retain the Ashes, with three warm-up matches arranged before the first Test gets under way in Brisbane.

<b>The Ashes (25 November - 7 January)</b><br/><br/>  Andrew Strauss will be taking England to Australia to defend the Ashes come November. Back in 2006/07 it was a 5-0 whitewash but this time around, as long as they can continue in their current reign of form, the England team will head down-under full of confidence and in with a real chance of defeating their hosts. <br/><br/> As in the Ashes series of 2009, Australia look a vulnerable side without the likes of Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne but it would be folly to suggest Ricky Ponting's men can be tamed without a fight.
