Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo DSi XL will be released in Europe in the first quarter of 2010. The new handheld - which launches in Japan on 21 November - is larger than the current DSi and Nintendo told us that it will be costlier than the current DSi.
In a statement confirming the release, the company said: "Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010. The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon."
As you can see, the DSi XL is a larger version of the current DSi. It features larger 4.2 inch screens and it comes with a longer stylus and a new Touch Pen.
The default stylus is 4mm longer than the current stylus while the Touch Pen is 40mm longer. The handheld does have 1 - 3 hrs more battery life than DSi, depending on screen brightness.
In Japan, the DSi XL will be available in three colours: Dark Brown, Wine Red and Natural White.
The DSi XL will also come with some software pre-loaded onto it including A Bit of Brain Training: Arts, A Bit of Brain Training: Science, and Kiyou Akira Rakuhiku Language Easier.
So, in summary, it's a larger DSi with a new long Touch Pen and some Brain Training games pre-loaded onto it. Would you like one?
DAMN! Looks pretty awesome but it also looks MASSIVE! I definately won't be getting this seeing as i have a DS, two DS Lites and a DSi. Plus the whole bigger screen thing seems impressive but teh graphics of games will just look worse and stretched. I'd rather get a colour DSi.
