It might be a couple of days late, but Mass Effect 2's second downloadable mission – "The Price of Revenge" – is available now via the in-game Cerberus Network. Aside from the typical experience points and enemies to kill, this quest adds a new squadmate named Zaeed and sets you loose on a tale of revenge.
In his continuing quest to give you every advantage possible, the Illusive Man has hired a mercenary known as Zaeed to be on your team; yes, this means you don't have to convince him to get on the Normandy. A human with an accent, Zaeed's face is scarred, his right eye is colorless, and he's got a pretty major chip on his shoulder. He was a founder of the Blue Suns, but his partner turned on him, tried to kill him, and left him for dead. Now it's 20 years later, and if you want Zaeed's loyalty on Shepard's mission, you'll need to join him as he hunts down the traitor in an alien refinery.
Just like the majority of loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2, The Price of Revenge is pretty frickin' sweet. Zaeed's not that likeable of a character when you first meet him – he's gruff and short on conversation – but on the mission, he's interesting because he's after his own objectives and couldn't care less about what Shepard says. He's driven by the need for revenge and is willing to do anything to get it – he's not just sitting there taking orders like the other folks.
It's all very cool; I hope that BioWare continues to pump out missions like this one where you desperately want to replay it so that you see how the other half lives.
As far as nuts and bolts about the download, it'll occupy 422 MB on your hard drive and is free if you're on the Cerberus Network (a program packed in with new copies of the game and available for 1,200 Microsoft Points if you're borrowing or renting the game). Meanwhile, Zaeed (who is trained in assault and sniper rifles) comes with the abilities of concussive shot, heavy disruptor ammo, mercenary warlord, and inferno grenade. Playing this mission also gives you and your squad the M-451 Firestorm, a heavy weapon flamethrower.
