Leicester City have signed defender Alex Bruce from Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season. It is Nigel Pearson's second signing of the transfer window following the capture of midfielder Nolberto Solano.

Bruce has made over 100 appearances for Ipswich Town, but has struggled to force his way into the first team under Roy Keane. The 25 year old has made just one first team appearance this year, ironically in the 1-1 draw with Leicester last month.

Bruce has been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland, the most recent coming against Poland in November 2008.

The defender should be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Blackpool.
