What is RSS?
RSS is a tool that allows The Tyee to offer our readers our most recent headlines with links to the original article. An RSS feed from The Tyee is just a text list of story headlines, links and descriptions formatted in a way that RSS readers understand.
Our RSS feed is updated each time we publish a new story, so once you give your RSS reader our URL (http://thetyee.ca) it will regularly check our feed and show you our latest headlines in real time. You can also add our RSS feed to your blog or site to display our latest headlines.
How to use RSS feeds:
You will first need to get an RSS reader or an RSS web module. To add The Tyee RSS feed to your reader just type: http://thetyee.ca into the application and it will start feeding you our latest headlines. If you're using the Firefox browser right now, you will notice a small orange box (usually in the address bar at the top of the browser window). Click on the box and a window will pop up asking if you want to subscribe to The Tyee RSS. Click "yes" and our latest headlines will be visible as a bookmark.
How do I get a news reader?
There are many news readers available on the web. Some can be downloaded for free, while other programs will charge for more customizable options. As well, certain readers will work better on different operating systems. You will need to take these factors into account when you choose your software.
