“Tragedy at Ft Hood”

This past Thursday 13 American Soldiers were killed and another 30 wounded at a horrific mass shooting at US Army installation, Ft Hood Texas. As I watched in horror and then anger I recalled my two years of final service in the Army as a Battalion Commander at Ft Hood, 2002-2004.

My wife and two daughters were stunned at the incident having lived on the post in family housing.

A military installation, whether it is Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, or Coast Guard, is supposed to be a safe sanctuary for our Warriors and their families. It is intended to provide a home whereby our “Band of Brothers and Sisters” can find solace and bond beyond just the foxhole but as family units.

A military installation is supposed to be a place where our Warriors train for war, to serve and protect our Nation.

On Thursday, 5 November 2009 Ft Hood became a part of the battlefield in the war against Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism.

There may be those who feel threatened by my words and would even recommend they not be uttered. To those individuals I say step aside because now is not the time for cowardice. Our Country has become so paralyzed by political correctness that we have allowed a vile and determined enemy to breach what should be the safest place in America, an Army post.

We have become so politically correct that our media is more concerned about the stress of the shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan. The misplaced benevolence intending to portray him as a victim is despicable. The fact that there are some who have now created an entire new classification called; “pre-virtual vicarious Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)” is unconscionable.

This is not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is, an Islamic jihadist attack.

We have seen this before in 2003 when a SGT Hasan of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) threw hand grenades and opened fire into his Commanding Officer’s tent in Kuwait. We have seen the foiled attempt of Albanian Muslims who sought to attack Ft Dix, NJ. Recently we saw a young convert to Islam named Carlos Bledsoe travel to Yemen, receive terrorist training, and return to gun down two US Soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruiting station. We thwarted another Islamic terrorist plot in North Carolina which had US Marine Corps Base, Quantico as a target.

What have we done with all these prevalent trends? Nothing.

What we see are recalcitrant leaders who are refusing to confront the issue, Islamic terrorist infiltration into America, and possibly further into our Armed Services. Instead we have a multiculturalism and diversity syndrome on steroids.

Major Hasan should have never been transferred to Ft Hood, matter of fact he should have been Chaptered from the Army. His previous statements, poor evaluation reports, and the fact that the FBI had him under investigation for jihadist website posting should have been proof positive.

However, what we have is a typical liberal approach to find a victim, not the 13 and 30 Soldiers and Civilian, but rather the poor shooter. A shooter who we are told was a great American, who loved the Army and serving his Nation and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) stating that his actions had nothing to do with religious belief.

We know that Major Hasan deliberately planned this episode; he did give away his possessions. He stood atop a table in the confined space of the Soldier Readiness Center shouting “Allahu Akhbar”, same chant as the 9-11 terrorists and those we fight against overseas in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation.

No one in leadership seems willing to sound the alarm for the American people; they are therefore complicit in any future attacks. Our Congress should suspend the insidious action to vote on a preposterous and unconstitutional healthcare bill and resolve the issue of “protecting the American people”.

The recent incidents in Dearborn Michigan, Boston Massachusetts, Dallas Texas, and Chicago Illinois should bear witness to the fact that we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America. And don’t have CAIR call me and try to issue a vanilla press statement; they are an illegitimate terrorist associated organization which should be disbanded.

We have Saudi Arabia funding close to 80% of the mosques in the United States, one right here in South Florida, Pompano Beach. Are we building churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia? Are “Kaffirs” and “Infidels” allowed travel to Mecca?

So much for peaceful coexistence.

Saudi Arabia is sponsoring radical Imams who enter into our prisons and convert young men into a virulent Wahabbist ideology….one resulting in four individuals wanting to destroy synagogues in New York with plastic explosives. Thank God the explosives were dummy. They are sponsoring textbooks which present Islamic centric revisionist history in our schools.

We must recognize that there is an urgent need to separate the theo-political radical Islamic ideology out of our American society. We must begin to demand surveillance of suspected Imams and mosques that are spreading hate and preaching the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic……that speech is not protected under First Amendment, it is sedition and if done by an American treason.

There should not be some 30 Islamic terrorist training camps in America that has nothing to do with First Amendment, Freedom of Religion. The Saudis are not our friends and any American political figure who believes such is delusional.

When tolerance becomes a one way street it certainly leads to cultural suicide. We are on that street. Liberals cannot be trusted to defend our Republic, because their sympathies obviously lie with their perceived victim, Major Nidal Malik Hasan.

I make no apologies for these words, and anyone angered by them, please, go to Ft Hood and look into the eyes of the real victims. The tragedy at Ft Hood Texas did not have to happen. Consider now the feelings of those there and on every military installation in the world. Consider the feelings of the Warriors deployed into combat zones who now are concerned that their loved ones at home are in a combat zone.

Ft Hood suffered an Islamic jihadist attack, stop the denial, and realize a simple point.

The reality of your enemy must become your own.

Perfectly Stated

Throughout history the men and women that had the courage to stand up and speak the truth have been mocked, insulted and even executed. We are seeing history repeat itself once again. Allen West has the courage to speak up and declare the truth about the incident at Ft. Hood. For this he has been hammered relentlessly by most in the media. Most clear thinking Americans immediately considered the possibility that this was an act of terrorism and appreciate Mr. West's comments. It is this type of leadership that Americans are seeking and will hopefully demand come November 2010. Fight on Colonel!! There are millions standing behind you!!  I suggest everyone visit his web site: www.allenwestforcongress.com

I think it is time for all

I think it is time for all Muslems to leave this damn country, they have never shared our values of life and I think you can't trust none of them.By the way, were did Hasan learn to shoot a pistol so good? This has been planned since the beginning if you ask me.Our President is worried about healthcare when all this is going on.Did you see were he said that we should not jump to conclusions about this incident but do you remember how he called the incident with the Cambridge police officer, calling him stupid but taking up for his Muslem brother.

Hypocrite

Good thing the native Americans didn't say the same thing when your ancestors showed up, David. Learn your history; they too were as poorly behaved. 400 years passing doesn't pretty that pig up any. And considering how you spell, I don't know why anyone would take your assessment of this seriously to start with. Clearly you didn't put much thought into it.

When you suggest that 400 years ago I or anyone now living contributed to occurrences is just stupid. Just as stupid as 700 years of aggression and jihad from Islam. Yes, we all do need to learn our history, and learn it factually, not from the biased perspective of political correctness.

Thank you

I have two sons at Fort Hood. Ironically one is back on 2 weeks R&R and his older brother just returned home after his year long tour in Iraq Wednesday everning. It is going to take some adjusting to get used to the idea that our troops were attacked at home. Families are accustomed to dealing with attacks on our loved ones during deployments but this is a new attackand yes it was terror.

I plan to contact my Sentors Monday morning to express my disgust that political correctness has killed on a post that is home to my family. Boom booms are for deployments, not post.

Absolutely Spot On

Well spoken and laid out. This enemy has been attacking us for three decades and it long overdue we fight back. If our current so-called leadership, and I don't care from which party, is too cowardly to stand for American her citizens, they need to step down and let people like Lt. Col. Allen West in.

Here in Washington State we have a similar candidate running to replace Brian Baird, who recently went on Al Jazeera TV to explain his opposition to a bill to ignore the Goldstone Report, the one equating Israeli Soldiers to Hamas Terrorists.

I hope to see both Allen West and David Castillo from Washington State sitting together in Congress.

Jumping to Conclusions? Naw, Just Drawing Them

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." - From Barack Obama's book, "Audacity of Hope" (which, like all his books, was actually ghost-written by unrepentent Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers) =================================================== =================================================== ....My thoughts: Military veterans are a brotherhood of unique individuals, melded together in the crucible of wars past and present and bonded by duty, honor, sacrifice, blood, and love of country. More so than through any other fraternity, the associations and friendships formed through the military and law enforcement and firefighters and other emergency service providing units are lifelong, and we mourn the loss of our comrades until we rejoin them again someday in formation in Heaven. Sadly, politicians, "journalists", and historians today do not understand, let alone share, our code of conduct and ethics. Perhaps someday they will learn if they have the courage and will to seek the truth and report it honestly and accurately.

Your "quote" is simply

Your "quote" is simply untrue-- made up out of thin air. Anyone who cares one whit about facts knows this is a twisted re-creation of a passage from Obama's book about internment camps, relating Arab American immigrants to Japanese Americans during WWII, and that he would stand up for them if a similar idea caught on today. Slight difference there you might want to take note of. I can't stand this President's ideas, but to protect the legitimacy of their own arguments those of us who oppose Obama must fiercely repudiate nonsense like the comment above. Go away.

Ft. Hood, Islam and the PC Altar

Lt Col West, Long may you serve our nation!!! Daily we refuse to be served pc pap from the media, our elected "leaders" and now, sadly, our military.

Dear FOX News Sunday (fns@foxnews.com),

While I applaud your discussing Islam in relation to the Ft. Hood murders, I respectfully submit that unless you have studied the doctrine of Islam - the Koran, Sira (biography of Mohammed) and Hadith (the traditions of Mohammed), and its “divine” Sharia law you are very much out of your element in discussing Islam or Muslim behavior. Someone on your staff must immerse themselves in a study of the tenets of Islam, as Islam embodies the greatest global and domestic threat to liberty, equality and peace.

A Muslim acting in accordance with Islamic tenets and Islamic 'logic' is sane within that mind set. Under Islam, non-Muslims are guilty of not acknowledging Allah and his prophet Mohammed, therefore all manner of discrimination, harm and murder are acceptable and no penalty is imposed for the killing of infidels.

A Muslim who strives in defense or support of Islam may engage, indeed is required to engage in or fund, armed or covert jihad. Islam offers infidels three options, first conversion - an invitation to Islam (Osama bin Laden did this in a letter to former President Bush), then subjugation under sharia (as the Copts are in Egypt today), or jihad war until you convert, accept subjugation or die (reference Sudan, etc).

Islam's express desire is to bring the world, Muslim and non-Muslim, under sharia law. If Islam is weak for a period of time, the Islamic community will appear peaceful; however as it gains in numbers and strength the Islamic community will attempt to impose sharia. For examples see Islamic demands and actions in the United Kingdom, France, Kenya or Indonesia.

Sharia law condemns freedom, forbids equality, and denies traditional sovereignty; it is legitimate that we reject it. The call to sharia law in America is a call to overthrow the US Constitution. Jihad, whether state organized or by individuals must be recognized for what it is, the followers of Islam engaging in war to advance Islam and force the imposition of Islamic sharia law. Please educate yourselves, lest more be sacrificed at the altar of political correctness.

To liberty under the Constitution,

CD, US Citizen

Miss-plassed Ideals and Honor

I have stated to friends and family and those who want to listen; this Countries Leaders have the wrong Ideals and lack of Country Honor to protect this Country and this Country's Culture, because all they want is: Power and Control and if that helps the American People, by accident- so be it. I do not trust this President, just check his history and the lack of "proof" of birth place. He has proven where his honor lies- Muslims. I believe that if it comes down to it and it will one day, he will side with the Islamic Muslims. It seems ok- to talk about Islimic Muslims and their god, but don't you dare speak about God, Jesus: Elohim, Yahweh and the like, or you will have hate directed toward you, but is their a law about that? Sometime back I stopped being "Politically Correct", it is a form of Brainwashing by the Government. Its a form of taking away my "Freedom of Speech". I don't dislike other cultures or races, I just don't like them pushing their cultures on me when they come to my Country.

This Health plan "change" is not what the American people really want, it's just that Obama is pushing it down our throats for his culture. There is a better way.

So as I have said before- we Americans need to vote out everyone and start over- That's the Change I want to see.!

God Bless America and may He always protect U.S. from our Enemies.

Asked in Jesus' Name.

Terrorist shot by a WOMAN Infidel !

I am proud of you and any American who will say what needs to be said. This was an attack by a terrorist. I am hoping that he is executed for his crime against America. Just like shooting a police officer, it is not the individual officer but the law that was slain. These are soldiers and defenders of the Constitution of the United States. He shot the Constitution. Hang him from the highest tree with a ham wrapped around his neck.

The War that is to come.

Everybody who loves their country should get their hands on a book called The Clash of Civilisations by Samuel Huntington. He paints a terrifying future of war between Islam and the West. The West has been severely weakened by decades of socialist PC, enforced multi-culturalism and the literal destruction of family values. Muslims are being allowed to settle in our lands at a great speed. You only have to look at the alarming changes occurring in Britain and Europe. And the same is occurring in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The USA is next in line for muslim encroachment. If these people were a benign enity like the Buddists we wouldn't even be discussing this article. Islam by it's nature is an aggressive religion. They have no room for 'the other'. It is the reason why they form enclaves and take over whole regions like that in France, England and other European countries. They are all having serious problems with these people. The more you pander to their demands the more agressive they become. At this point in history we NEED brave individuals like Allen West to speak the truth to the American people. The West is in serious trouble....and the UN is literally protecting these mongrels. They allowed men like Gaddafi & Amadenejad to hijack the proceedings to launch into a endless rant about the West. These two 'men' are in charge of terrorist exporting nations. Both are dictators who subjugate the masses. Another was Arafat - they allowed this man to strut the stage wearing a pistol at the UN!! It's high time the West ditched the UN and tore up the treaties we have been CONNED into signing. We are fools for implementing them......becuae our enemies NEVER did!!!! signed: One pissed off Aussie

I'm sorry, Mr. West, but given all the information we have been provided by the media, I fail to see how this tragedy could have been prevented. If, in fact, justice determines that this was an act of treason, then Mr. Hasan will be dealt with accordingly. Remember, we live in a country that believes we are innocent until proven guilty. Would you want it any other way? Your comments and those of your supporters, are the scariest I've read about this issue. It's the heighth of prejudice to judge a whole group of people for the actions of a few. You of all people should understand this.

Sorry Patty but you're lost in space

You must really be a naive individual. How many countries in this world have you travelled to? How many various news papers/sources do you read to get a good well rounded view of a topic? What happened at Fort Hood was a terrorist attack, but individuals who go around with thier heads buried in the sand will never see it for what it was. Here's a news flash these attacks are getting more frequent not less so I guess the real question is "Will it take bombs exploding in your neighborhood before you think there is a problem?" It is no longer a problem that Israel has to face its right here on our door steps and people need to wake up. Mr. West is correct you are not.

“Tragedy at Ft Hood” - WAKE UP AMERICA!

Most of the time I don't give my opinion about world-wide tragedies, but this time I was so saddened by the tragedy at Ft. Hood that after reading Lt. Col Allen B West's letter, I have to agree with him 100%. Americans have to be blind or stupid not to realize exactly what's going on after an incident like this one (and the other incidents.) In my opinion, a person that does what this man did, he should not have any considerations, whether he is mentally ill or lucid. I know that in America a person is considered innocent until proven guilty, but this man what caught on the act. What more proof do we want…. HE IS GUILTY!! Regardless of his state of mind. I have no doubts on my mind that this Mr.Hasan is definitely connected with Islamic terrorism. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Get your head out of the sand

"I'm sorry, Mr. West, but given all the information we have been provided by the media, I fail to see how this tragedy could have been prevented." Submitted by Patty Horridge Dear Patty, I do not know what information provided by the media would lead you to believe this could not have been prevented. If the MSM and the American people in general were not so afraid that someone might be offended for being called to task for hiding behind the cloak of political correctness, this could have darn sure been prevented. Mr. Hasan gave several indications he thought we were wrong to be at war against "his Muslim brothers" and that killing American soldiers was justified for any Muslim should have been enough to get him investigated and stripped of any access th American soldiers. If someone threatens our President, you can bet the Secret Service and FBI are going to be paying a visit to that person. Why shouldn't that work the same way for American soldiers or any U.S. citizen for that matter. If that had been done to in this case (our FBI was away of his internet activities and his behavior at both Walter Reed & Fort Hood), then Mr. Hasas could have been denied access to the post and not have has the unfettered access he had to kill 13 and wound 30+ more of our precious American Defenders of Liberty. I would be willing to gaureentee that when Hasan is found guilty, he will not be executed by our government. The President of the U.S. has to personally approve of any execution carried out by the U.S. Military and this President certainly doesn't have the stomach for it. He can't make a decision when all of his Military advisors make recommendations on what need to be done in Afghanistan to protect American troops and America's interests. Instead he tells our best Military minds to come up with different plans until he hears one he likes. What the heck does this man know about Military tactic or history? NADA, but yet he is "omnipotent" and he will come up with his own plan or not! How did he ever make the decison to run for President. He hasn't been able to get off the fence on any subject since then. He is so afraid to come down on the wrong side of any issue that he just won't make a decision. You go Lt.Col.West. I don't have an issue with a "black" man who is not afraid to stand up for conviction "no matter how the political winds blow".

FBI Investigation into Major Hasan

There is a big problem in this area. A really big problem!! Major Hasan was under investigation by the FBI for jihadist postings on a web site, and yet was allowed to buy a gun and ammo without the FBI personnel investigating him being consulted. How many more such terrorists have done or will be doing the same thing before a 100% background check is done? This is really SAD. I cannot help but notice that the NRA are extremely silent on this issue. Are they hoping it will go away on it's own?

Tragedy at Ft Hood

Well stated Lieutenant Colonel Allen B West, I am also intereted in your opinion of the Oklahoma City bombing. We as a country should not only look at Muslim radicals, but all persons who display hatred againt our country and our way of life. I feel there was not enough said of what happen there, it's as if if was washed under the bridge because they were white Americans, but the fact remains until 911, it was the single most terrorist event on U.S. soil. LTC West, I totally agree

I shared these same truths with my wife after hearing of the tragedy at Fort Bliss. It is so obvious the leaders of the radical Islamic movement are fueling hatred among their followers around the world to rise up against our way of life. It is the desire of these wicked men to destroy our way of life, take away our religious freedoms and implement their radical religious laws and rule over us. However, the greatest threat to our Nation is that our own elected leaders are blind to the truth and unwilling to address the core problem, Islamic Jihad. Most of our Congressman and Senators have no military or combat experience and are ill equiped to lead us in a time of war. During one of the most critical moments in our Nations history, they are not focused on the task. Our Commander in Chief is unable to make the necessary decision to sent additional troops to his Commanders in the fight. Call it what you may, but our Nation is at war. There was only one reason for the killings at Fort Bliss by that American medical officer. It was because he placed his loyalty to Islamic Jihad over his loyalty to his Nation, his Unit and His fellow soldiers. He is a traitor and should be given swift justice and executed at Fort Bliss. The wounded soldiers that survived his attack should be given the opportunity to make up his firing squad. God Bless our soldiers, God give wisdom to our Nations leaders, and God crush our enemies and show them no mercy. Andrew Hamre MSG, US Army (Retired)

LTC West, I totally agree

I shared these same truths with my wife after hearing of the tragedy at Fort Bliss. It is so obvious the leaders of the radical Islamic movement are fueling hatred among their followers and encouraging them to rise up against our way of life. There was only one reason for the killings at Fort Bliss by that American medical officer. It was because he placed his loyalty to radical Islamic teachings over his loyalty to his Nation, his Unit and His fellow soldiers. He is a traitor and should be given swift justice and executed at Fort Bliss. The wounded soldiers that survived his attack should be given the opportunity to make up his firing squad. Anything

One of the biggest problems in this country, is that we have taken Religion out of this country and pretend that all we have to do is go to church on Sunday and everything from Monday to Saturday will take care of it's self. You know that this country founded on religious principals, but it that everything is going good so we do not need God anymore. Look what is going on now, people are trying to take religion out of everything, CHRISTMAS, off the TV, RADIO, SCHOOLS AND ANYTHING THEY FEEL IS NOT IN THEIR BEST INTEREST. WE BETTER GET ON OUR KNEES AND PRAY THAT GOD COMES BACK TO SAVE US. WE ARE IN THE PROMISE LAND, NOT THE DESERT SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT.

Just because West says so

Just because West says so doesn't make it so. If you were born with a brain, you ought to use it. Yes, I am a Vet! A number of terrorism experts, some with 30 years of research into terrorist attacks, studying a database which recorded every single act of terror, reached the same conclusion independently: Islam and religious motivation had very little to do with terror attacks. They also warned that the same policy of intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan were sure to result in more of these attacks. Why would anyone be at all surprised when it comes true? The attacks are triggered by the same motivators that would make you and I go berserk: if we believed that we were being bombed, attacked, and killed unjustly; that our brothers, our race, our families, our countries, were being destroyed; if we saw no other way out: we would also snap. We would not need to belong to a fringe cult to reach that state of mind in those circumstances. The CIA calls it "blowback". You can only stir a nest of hornets for so long before they turn on you. Newsweek hit the nail right on the head when Fareed Zakariah wrote the piece "Why do they Hate us". Maybe that's what the establishment wants... Our government is creating the terrorists of the next 20 years as we speak, to promote a state of constant war, and you guys blame Islam? Gimme a break, here! West is writing in the same witless line of Bush : "They hate our freedoms" without any substance and study. It behooves us to really understand what is going on here, as this will happen again, and no, it's not because of Islam!

You're a Vet? Of what the PLO ?

you stupid bast--d. I guess the shouting of "Allahu Akbar" convinced you that the shooter wasn't motivated by religion.

Really?

While I couldn't agree more on what a tragedy this all is and how much my thoughts and prayers go out to all the families of the victims as well as those still on the base, I have a really hard time swallowing Allen's comments for two reasons: First is that this is not about liberal government making it so that we have to take everyone in the army. That was the job of the republicans when we went to war in Iraq. Now our armed forces are so depleted that we also accept people on the MR scale (those with sever mental disabilities) and those with violent criminal pasts. Nether of these two groups should be armed and trained either, but we still do. whats your answer to that Lt. Col? Second is that it seems awfully convenient that the Lt. Col. has released this statement while running for congress, and most of it just blames it on the democrats. Even assuming he is right here, and pointing out that he doesn't mention his running anywhere in the statement, it is also awfully convenient that the very first comment from a generic user name tells everyone to go out and vote for him while linking to his campaign website. I'm sorry, but I see this as utilizing a national tragedy to help bolster his votes and get him a sweet gig in congress, not to actually help this country. We need less people laying blame and more people working to fix this country...on both sides of the aisle!

First of all

First of all, I question any comment posted with nicknames and/or Anonymous. If you have an opinion or something to say "SAY IT OUT LOUD AND SIGN IT". As much as I might not like or agree with your comments, I believe in your right as a US citizen to express them. I live here in Texas and was connected to the military for 23 years, went through the Viet Nam War as a dependent. My question to all is why Major Hasan was not seperated from the Army as a risk? It is reported his performance evaluations were poor or at least questionable. My question for him is why shoot deploying soldiers, they had nothing to do with your situation, and not the officer(s) who actually had control over his deployment? Col. West, I wish you luck in your bid for a seat in congress and hope you and others who want to work for a solution to the mess this country is presently in are voted into office.
