Kristensen sets practice pace for Audi

Tom Kristensen led an Audi lockout of the top four places in DTM free practice at Oschersleben on Saturday morning. The Dane, who is a two-time winner at the German circuit, snatched the top spot from Mattias Ekstrom in the final couple of minutes of the session, as the majority of drivers improved their times towards the end when they switched their focus to qualifying setups. Holden Racing Team's Will Davison dominated the first race of the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge at Sandown Raceway, taking his first victory for Holden Racing Team. Davison lost a place at the start to Whincup but passed him back on lap three, Davison then steadily extending his margin as he along with most of the front-runners chose to run the sprint tyre in today's race.
 

Lapierre puts ORECA on Algarve Le Mans Series pole

ORECA driver Nicolas Lapierre claimed pole position for Saturday's Le Mans Series enduro at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal. The Frenchman came out on top in a closely-fought qualifying session in which the top five cars were separated by just over a half a second. Lapierre's pole time of 1m32.020s aboard the lead ORECA-AIM 01 was just over one tenth of a second quicker than Stefan Mucke's best in the 007 Lola-Aston Martin.

Ekstrom punished for Audi orders

Mattias Ekstrom has been docked a place in the results from the DTM race at Zandvoort after Audi were found to have breached the series' ban on team orders. Ekstrom finished the race at the Dutch track in second place after making up a deficit of more than five seconds to the 2008-spec Audis of Oliver Jarvis and Alexandre Premat in just a handful of laps towards the end of the race, but he has been handed a five-second penalty, which drops him to third behind Jarvis. The manner in which he caught and passed the Phoenix team's drivers sparked an investigation by the German motorsport authority, with the decision being that Audi had breached Article 20.2 of the DTM sporting regulations, which states: "Team orders which interfere with the race result are prohibited." Further discussions between the officials and Audi team members took place at Oschersleben on Friday, before the decision to penalise Ekstrom, and fine both the Abt Sportline and Team Phoenix squads was confirmed in the afternoon

Fairuz Fauzy set the fastest time in practice for round seven of the Formula Renault 3.5 series at Portimao on Friday morning. The Malaysian's 1m32.166s today was 0.5s faster than Le Mans pole-winner Jon Lancaster, while Oliver Turvey was third for Carlin Motorsport after being forced to change an engine after Thursday's opening collective test. Team-mate Jaime Alguersuari also opted for a fresh engine today, and the ensuing restricted running left the Formula 1 racer in unfamiliar ground in 23rd.
