Haiti & The Wars We Should Be Fighting

Imagine a world where we fought the wars we should be fighting. Instead of Iraq and Afghanistan, we fought to preserve life. Haiti gives us just that chance. I asked just this day on Twitter for a list of charities that could most immediately help the people of Haiti.

A people that needed our help many years before the earthquake called the island of Hispanola to our attention.

Haiti has been impoverished and for decades. The recent earthquake has exacerbated those problems. 10’s of thousands of people are dead. Women and children are begging with their silent prayers for us to help them.

It is easier than we may think for us to help them.  It has been reported that EVERY HOPSPITAL in Haiti has been destroyed.  That is why I am recommending above and beyond all the amazing charities that are currently supporting the relief effort in Haiti for you to donate to ‘Doctors Without Borders’.

It is my opinion that Dr.’s w/out borders can do the greatest good in the least available time, because of the destruction of hospitals . To make a donation to Doctors w/out Borders please go to Haitian Earthquake Response.

If you have an idea for Haitian earthquake response I haven’t mentioned please leave a link to the charity of your choice in the comments below.

Please Donate right now!!!!

God Bless You & Keep You Well !!!

Why You Haven’t Got Your Google Wave Invite Yet

*Post Updates At Bottom

The obvious reason you haven’t received your Gwave invite yet, is the fact that nobody has invited you :)

But if you’ve managed to wrangle yourself an invitation from one of the 100,000 preview invitees or the original dev sandbox invitees, originally handed out by Google, here are a few thoughts on why you haven’t got in yet.

All that I’ve talked to on Google Wave were awarded 8 invitations to give out. Some have claimed that certain big wigs got more, but I haven’t personally talked to anybody who has.

Once you invite somebody into Gwave, it says that they have been ‘nominated’ which to me means that the invites are placed into a queue somewhere. Some said that a few of their ‘nominations’ have got in but I’m not sure that these people weren’t already among the original Google invitees and it just took them longer to accept their invitations.

If you read the image above it says “Invitations will not be sent immediately. We have a lot of stamps to lick.” What I think Google is doing is using new Google Wave users gradually in order to test how robust the system is and to fix errors along the way. They have a big influx of new users and I’m sure they are experiencing bugs that they hadn’t foreseen. Note it also says above “Keep in mind that this is a preview so it could be a bit rocky at times.”

I believe that, as they shore the system up, they will begin accepting the new nominations in increments that they believe they can handle without crashing. I’m imagining the ‘nominations’ will receive their invites in a week or so, but this is just my guess.

Personally, I wish I had 100,000 invites myself to give out.

I can’t wait to see you on the inside.

*UPDATED Oct, 3rd

My original thoughts have been somewhat verified by a few Google employees working on Wave.  First of all special thanks to Anthony Baxtersenior Google software engineer, for commenting on this post and letting us know that I was on the right track.

There were also these two tweets from Lars Rasmussen, who led the development of Google Wave, and lead Google Wave project manager Stephanie Hannon, which stated things along the same lines.

I’ve also verified from inside Google Wave that some of the ‘nominations’ have indeed received their invites. Will Moody was nice enough to let me quote his Google Wave email invitation.

Jeff XXXXXXXXX has invited you to preview Google Wave!
Google Wave is a new online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using text, photos, videos, maps, and more. Learn more at This is still an early preview of Google Wave, so you may run into some bumps along the way but we look forward to your feedback.

It’s nice to know that our ‘nominations’ will see who invited them. Will Moody also said that he was given 8 invites to give out himself, so all of you expecting invites will hopefully be able to bring 8 of your pals along as well.

If You’re Going To Make A Change Make It Big!

Some of you may know from following my Twitter stream that my wife Jamie got a huge promotion at her work and we are currently knee deep in boxes for our move to Tallahassee, Florida.  She is being made property manager of a luxury apartment community and it is a great opportunity for our family.

I’ve put my Internet work on the back burner as of late, anticipating, and now executing the move.  At twenty five years old I am so proud of all that Jamie has managed to accomplish in the last few years, becoming an even greater mother and excelling in her career. Focusing on her achievements has given me time to re-access my Internet work and so after we get situated in Tallahassee, I’ll begin instituting some new ideas.

I’ll be putting most of my social media writing on a totally new blog while changing the primary thrust of to more of an artistic focus. I’ll also be keeping a regular posting schedule.  As it has been lately I’ve been posting when I could squeeze in the time.  Thank all of you so much for your continued interest and support. I look forward to working with you all in the future from my new digs in Tallahassee.

Now, though it saddens me, I must pack this computer away and it may be a week or so until I talk/tweet with you. That is an eon in web time so I’m sure by then everything will have changed :)

Peace, Love, And Laserbeams;

What Jack Kerouac Can Teach You About Content Creation

Jack had this writing style called spontaneous prose where he just sat down and started writing-The important thing is to begin-as Plato said “The starting is the hardest part of the work”-Lots of times we have good ideas but we never get them off the ground-Our blogs lie dormant the exciting content wafting around inside our minds-We’re afraid of failure, we edit ourselves into oblivion or we just don’t know where to start-Well the best way to get around that is to just start and hope to god you fail—It’s better than accomplishing nothing— Jack sat down once and wrote out this list of 30 “essentials” to spontaneous prose-Maybe you can use some of them the next time your blog lies empty while your brain is full-That’s what I did….
