Whoever put in "Usenet is of significant cultural importance for the Internets, having been the beta testing ground for important Internets features such as spam, trolling, Internet Law, and the flame war." made my fucking day. I LOL'd HARD.--Aardvarx 11:50, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Usenet Is Dead

Srsly, it's dead, just forget that your n00b ass ever even heard of it and move the fuck along. And binary froups are just a lie, there's no such thing at all. It all died out completely like *YEARS* ago...before your n00b ass was ever even on the World Wide Waste...srsly. --Itchy Balls 03:47, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

btw alt.sex.furry has been around since 1995... the diaper groups probably came after. only newbies call somebody a n00b. --Image:Dickcopter.gif badmachine 07:15, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • True, but if you look at the traffic you'll find that it was hardly of any relevance or even noticed by anyone. No one did "furry jokes" on Usenet back in the day...diaper jokes, oh yeah, lots of those. No one ever made a Dean Stark furry group. Furries weren't hated then like they are now, mostly because they weren't infested with drama and were a very small, mostly hidden, out of the way froup. It wasn't until Proxima's site that furries really started expanding exponentially. --Itchy Balls 07:33, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Interestingly enough, Proxima's old sites are still online and don't look like they've really been updated at all, style wise, since the early 90s. She's got a WikiFur article on her too: http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Proxima_Centauri Another interesting thing to note is that Proxima's popularity really only started skyrocketing *AFTER* she started cross combining furry material with infantilism (in fact I believe she was the first to do so), which then in turn caused a huge boost in the furry population as many adult babies found the furry fetish to be somewhat "cross compatible" with their interests. --Itchy Balls 07:49, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • BTW, n00b is common slang to the volatile Usenet froups, including alt.hackers.malicious, alt.usenet.kooks, alt.flame, alt.2600 and the like. In more pedestrian groups like alt.politics and such it may not be as commonplace, but those froups aren't really centered on the lulz. --Itchy Balls 07:35, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
