Panda Silk DK Baby-Toddler Jumper
free knitting pattern for baby or toddler girl

Sizes: 6 (12, 18, 24 months, 2T)
Finished chest
(buttoned and with trim): 16 (18, 20, 22, 24)
Finished length: 14 (14 3/4, 15 1/2, 16 1/2, 17 1/2)

Materials:
Crystal Palace Panda Silk DK (bamboo-SW wool-silk) : 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) - 50 gr balls #9800 color "frosted iris"
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles US size 5 (3.75mm), 6 (4 mm) straight needles, and size 5 (3.75mm) 16 circular needle
Cable Needle
1 Stitch holder
Stitch marker
Notions: 3 buttons 1/2 diameter

Gauge:
22 sts and 29 rows = 4 in Cross Stitch pattern using size 6 needles
23 sts and 30 rows = 4" in Stockinette stitch using size 5 needles. Be sure to work a gauge swatch.

Abbreviations: Beg-begin; BO-bind off; CC-contrast color; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; K-knit; LC-left cross; MC-main color; ndl-needle; patt-pattern; pm-place marker; P-purl; rem-remain(ing); rep-repeat; RC-right cross; RS-right side; rnd-round; st(s)-stitch(es); WS-wrong side.

Cross Stitch Pattern:
LC- slip next to cable ndl, hold to front, knit next st then knit st on cable needle
RC- slip next to cable ndl, hold to back, knit next st then knit st on cable needle

Back
Hem
Using size 5 straight ndl, CO 100 (108, 116, 124, 132) sts. Knit 6 rows (forms garter st band). Change to size 6 ndl.
Skirt Body
Change to size 6 ndl. Work even in Stockinette ST for 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) rows.
Begin Cross stitch pattern as follows:
Row 1: K3 (7, 11, 15, 19); LC, RC, *K 26, LC, RC; rep to last 3 (7, 11, 15, 19) sts; end K3 (7, 11, 15, 19).
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K3 (7, 11, 15, 19); RC, LC, *K 26, RC, LC; rep to last 3 (7, 11, 15, 19); sts; end K3 (7, 11, 15, 19).
Rows 4, 6, 8,10, 12 and 14: Purl.
Rows 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13: Knit.
Row 15: K18 (22, 26, 2, 6); LC, RC, *K 26, LC, RC; rep to last 18 (22, 26, 2, 6) sts; end K18 (22, 26, 2, 6).
Row 16: Purl.
Row 17: K18 (22, 26, 2, 6); * RC, LC, K 26; rep to last 18 (22, 26, 2, 6) sts; end K18 (22, 26, 2, 6).
Rows 20, 22, 24 and 26: Purl.
Rows 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27: Knit.
Row 28: Purl.
Repeat rows. 1-18 once more. Work even in Stockinette until piece measures 10 (10 1/2, 11, 11 1/2, 12), or desired length.


Armhole Shaping

BO 3 sts at beg of next 2 (2, 2, 4, 4) rows; 2 sts at beg of next 4 (6, 8, 8, 6) rows. Dec 1 st each end every other row 1(1, 1, 1, 0,2) times― 84 (88, 92, 96, 100) sts.
Divide for Yoke
K2tog 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) times place these sts on holder for right back BO 4 sts, K2tog 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) times.
Left Back Yoke
Working 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) sts on ndl. Work even in Stockinette St if necessary, until armhole measures 4 (4 1/4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2) end after working WS row.
Neck and Shoulder Shaping
BO 10 (10, 10, 10, 11) sts at neck edge. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 1 time ― 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) sts. BO rem 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) sts.
Right back Yoke
WS facing, place sts from holder onto ndl. Work same as for left back yoke.

Front
Work same as for back to yoke.
Front Yoke
K2 tog across row― 42 (44, 46, 48, 50) sts.
Change to size 5 (Work in Stockinette st until armhole measures 2 (2 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2) .
Neck Shaping
Work next 16 (17, 18, 19, 20) sts, place sts on holder for left front, BO next 10 sts, work rem sts.
BO 2 sts at neck edge every other row 2 times; 1 st every other row 1 time and 1 st every 4 rows 2 times (10, 11, 12, 13) sts. Work even until armhole measures same as back. BO rem 9 (10, 11, 12, 13) sts.
Button band
RS facing, using size 5 ndl, PU 26 (26, 28, 28, 30) sts along left back yoke, knit 4 rows and BO.
Buttonhole band
RS facing, using size 5 ndl, PU 26 (26, 28, 28, 30) sts along right back yoke.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2 (buttonhole): K2 (2, 3, 3, 3), BO 2 sts, *K8 (8, 8, 8, 8, 9), BO 2; rep from * once more, K2 (2, 3, 3, 3).
Row 3: K2 (2, 3, 3, 3), CO 2, *K8 (8, 8, 8, 8, 9), CO 2; rep from * once more, K2 (2, 3, 3, 3).
Row 4: Knit.
BO

Finishing
Sew shoulder and side seams. Work garter bands around armhole and neck. Work Button and buttonhole bands. Work crochet trim or may leave plain without crochet trim if desired. Place lower edge of buttonhole band on top button band; sew through both pieces and to center bind off sts. Sew buttons on button band.
Armbands:

RS facing, using circular ndl, beg at under arm seam. PU 66 (70, 74, 78, 82) sts, pm, join into rnd. Work 5 rnds as follows:

Garter Band (in the round)
Rnds 1, 3, and 5: Knit.

Rnds 2 and 4: Purl.
BO all sts.
Neckband
Note: You will be working back and forth in rows

RS facing, using circular ndl, beg at left back button band PU 14 (15, 16, 17, 18) sts at left back neck to shoulder seam, PU 14 (15, 16, 17, 18) sts along left front neck, PU 10 (10, 10, 10, 11) sts neck BO sts, PU 14 (15, 16, 17, 18) sts along right front edge to shoulder seam, PU 14 (15, 16, 17, 18) sts at right back neck―66 (70, 74, 78, 83) sts Knit 5 rows. BO all sts.

Crochet Trim: (see diagram)
Skirt Edge

RS facing, beg at side seam, 7 rows above CO row of lower skirt edge (row just above top of 6 row garter band), working on top of the skirt insert crochet hook through the bar between seam and first stitch; * chain 3, and work sc through the bar of next st as seen in diagram; repeat across lower edge of skirt front and back. Fasten off and work in ends.

Left armhole trim

RS facing beg at back yoke at underarm seam 5 rows from armhole edge. Work around armhole edge same as for lower edge.
Right armhole
RS facing beg at front yoke at underarm seam 5 rows from armhole edge. Work around armhole edge same as for lower edge.
Neck:
RS facing, beg at right back yoke, button hole band seam, 5 rows below neck BO, work same as for lower edge to seam at left back yoke button band.
