The Future of MMO's
Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Blake Morse/Gamerevolution.com has posted a feature on the future of MMO's mentioning Battleswarm Here

"Battleswarm: Field of Honor

This game is unique not only for its fresh take on MMOs, but just for gaming in general. It’s a cross between an RTS and FPS that takes advantage of the interweb to create something that’s truly one-of-a-kind. Imagine something that’s a cross between TribesCommand & Conquer, and the Starship Troopers movie - if you're having trouble, it's probably because it's new.

You can choose to play as either a gun-blasting soldier on the FPS side and take on horde after horde of giant bugs and lava-spewing bull monsters, or take the more tactical approach and be the guiding hand behind all those waves of deadly freak creatures. Most of the time, you’ll probably find yourself defending your generators from the infestation or leading the swarms that will destroy them, but there’s also a Capture the Flag mode that combines both aspects into each team and cool tower defense-like game for the strategists.

Battleswarm functions on a free-to-play platform with optional microtransactions similar to games like Maple Story. Only when I say micro, I mean micro. Most of the upgrades you can purchase costs pennies on the dollar but will only last temporarily.

Reality Gap Offers Gamers a Dual Treat
Friday, October 30, 2009

Reality Gap, Inc., the creators of MetaTIX™, today announced they’re getting into the Halloween spirit with exclusive give-aways and prizes for both their multiplayer online FPS vs. RTS Battleswarm™: Field of Honor™, and fantasy role-playing game, Monato Esprit™.

A review of the Battleswarm:Field of Honor Beta has been posted HERE (MMORPG.com)

Some select quotes:

“The games graphics are very well done: the shadows, water effects and the overall bloom effect in the game can be visually pleasing on the eyes. The game in general is user friendly and from the start you are given missions that have useful rewards.”

“The simple gameplay can be addictive and the option of being able to play two genres in one game keeps you from being bored. If you’re a fan of either genre, I would recommend on trying Battleswarm. The Battleswarm beta was many hours well spent.”

Open Beta
Tuesday, September 15, 2009

The Battleswarm beta is now fully open to all users, but you still have to get a beta key from somebody. The easiest way is to go to  FilePlanet.com where they're giving them away to anybody who asks. Massively is also giving away keys. For those of you tempted to grab a bunch of keys and make a bunch of accounts to get extra BetaTIX, don't bother. We're taking BetaTIX out of the game for the rest of the beta, so there is no reason to even try it.

Servers Back Online
Saturday, August 15, 2009

Thanks to our network staff, the server update went more quickly than anticipated, and the game servers are now back online. See you in the game.

First Steps
Saturday, August 15, 2009

There has been some confusion about getting started in the beta. Some people thought they were just signing up for the chance to be in the game. If you've signed up and received your confirmation email, you're in the beta.

So you've created an account, responded to your email confirmation, and now you want to play. How do you get started? It's very easy, just download the game, install, and start playing. Click the Download link on the left to get started. It's as easy as that.

And in case you missed it. Download.

On Saturday, August 15th at 9:00 AM Pacific Time we will be bringing the servers down for some maintenance. We anticipate that they will be down for between 3 and 5 hours.

Genre-busting Online Game Pits First-Person Shooter vs. Real-Time Strategy

Nolan Bushnell on GameSpot
Friday, July 31, 2009

GameSpot has posted a short article about Battleswarm and Nolan Bushnell. In it Nolan talks about the two modes of play in Battleswarm:

"In first-person shooter mode, you're a human soldier out to destroy alien bugs, while the commander view in the RTS mode lets you control your bugs, such as swarming, moving them around on the terrain to take on the humans," Bushnell said.

Reality Gap is pleased to announce the start of Closed Beta for our second online game - Battleswarm: Field of Honor. Battleswarm is ground breaking title mixing first person shooter (FPS) action and real time strategy (RTS) to create new unique and exciting experience. Combined with persistent online characters that increase in skill over time Battleswarm: Field of Honor is sure to grab the attention of the gaming community. You can sign up at battleswarm.net.
