Thizz in peace, our hyphy overlord

Welcome to the Thizzlehat Junction Center. This is your place to mention news and anything needing adminly attention. You can also use the shortcut TJC.

While you wait for attention, have a listen. You can also read the ED News on our blog and/or add us on MySpazz, ED Bebo and Fæcesbook. If that's not enough ED for you, feel free to follow ED on twitter and join the all new ED Forums.

Real-time discussion about ED content and/or help from an active ED Sysop, can be found at #wiki on ED IRC. Check your fear, drama and faggotry at the door.

About Encyclopedia Dramatica
Done in the spirit of Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary, Encyclopedia Dramatica's purpose is to provide a central catalog for the e-public to view parody and satire of drama, memes, e-pals and other interesting happenings on the Internets. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, reference-style parody, to poke fun at everyone and everything. You can read more about the origin of encyclopediadramatica in our About section.

Anyone with a web browser is welcome to participate, as long as you read and agree to the General disclaimer. You are required to create an account to edit articles. Other than that, there are no requirements.

Ways to Help
If you have free time and would like to help out, here's a list of things that can be done:

  • Check the Needed page. This is a list of articles we would like to see and information we'd like to find.
  • Check the list of wanted articles. This is automatically generated when two or more pages contain links to a page that doesn't yet exist.
  • Categorize articles. We have a list of existing categories and a list of uncategorized articles. To add an article to a category, click that page's edit link and at the bottom of the entry, type [[Category: Category Name]] (Where "Category Name" is the relevant approved, existing category) and click "Save Page". e-points if you mention what categories you added in the summary box.
  • Expand on stubs - view Stub
  • Rewrite crappy articles - view Crap
  • Add images to articles - view Upload
  • Eliminate dead-end pages by adding links to other articles - view Deadendpages
  • Review {{opentasks}} to see if there is anything else that needs to be done.

New Main Page

Hey folks, the new Main Page is now live. We've tested it in a ton of browsers, different resolutions, etc. but please take a look and let us know if you see any glitches. Comments and suggestions are also welcome. WM 03:54, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

  • I kind of miss getting to click the titles (Article of the Now, Video of the Now, etc.) to get a preview of things to come. I know there's other ways to get there, that was just kind of neat to me. Lightblood He - spoke - a promise - Lightblood - 06:12, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
  • I approve, although I'm in concurrence with D-Malice. It'd be nice if the sectional headers could be accomplished without images, or at least so that clicking them wouldn't bring you to the entirely boring and useless image page. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the redesign, and my only regret is that I wasn't around to collaborate in it. --Blu Aardvark 06:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
  • It looks nice IMO ~ QQ 07:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
  • Not trying to troll here, but I don't really like it, personally. It just kinda DUMPS everything on you at once without really spacing it out. If it were spread out a good bit more, it'd be almost perfect, though. -Nanostrike

In regards to the image links, check this out: [1] ED's new mediawiki version contains built in image linking so we don't need a template any more. I'll update the page later with the proper links instead of the image links. Thanks for the feedback! WM 15:11, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Check it out now - was that what you guys were thinking? Are there any missing? WM 15:16, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Yahoo Answers works on a "point" system, where the more points you accumulate the more special yahoo abilities you access. This essentially making it an MMO, where most people grind question so that they can level up.

Taking Down ED

User:Sheneequa/Taking Down ED this could potentially be an excellent telling of ED's history. Plz help out by throwing in whoever you can (provided they fit the criteria of having threatened to take ED down). --SheneequaTalk 07:11, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Australia (AGAIN)

The ban (RC) on small breasted women in adult publications has been made by the Australian Classification Board allegedly on the grounds that such images could be construed as child pornography, even where those publications comply with American law and keep certification that performers are over 18. Female ejaculation has been banned on the incredible grounds that "the depictions are a form of urination which is banned under the label of 'golden showers' in the Classification Guidelines" and/or "Female ejaculation is an 'abhorrent' depiction." Notably here male ejaculation is completely legal under the same guidelines, attracting an X rating in Australia. --SheneequaTalk 09:09, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Introducing...NewAardvarkTV

I'm sure some of you remember my last venture into the Youtube community. Well, after some time, and some consideration, I have decided to venture forth again, with this as my first video. Not much to see here at the moment, I'll admit, but enjoy, nonetheless. --Blu Aardvark 21:04, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

      • Fuck, those costumes are expensive, $1049 for the blue aardvark costume and $1119 for the aardvark with an attitude and that's the discount price. I imagine furries then spend even more to get them altered so that they have an opening in the groin area so that they can have sex while wearing them. Bantustan 02:50, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

New Template

Toot toot! I just fulfilled a request for a template which makes it easy to put 4 floating images in each corner of a page. I call it {{imagefloat}} . So yes, please test it and provide feedback on the talk page for what improvements can be made. This is a new innovation in class page-vandalism people! <3 from Vonranke 12:36, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Huh? didn't I already made one WP:LTA (oversight this) 21:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
    • Yes, it appears so, but it's a bit different. Also, the template isn't on THE LIST, so I never noticed it existed. <3 from Vonranke 13:20, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Quotes from the article:

  • "investigators found Garcia and his son, Wyatt, at 1:30 a.m. Sunday inside his car on a dirt road in Twin Peaks."
  • reads the post attributed to Stephen Garcia, 25. “I did this out of love for our son, to protect him and myself.

If you've seen the TV series Twin Peaks and remember the plot about the spirit possessing people and turning them into killers and then possessing their next of kin, then you'll understand. --Ritegroic 00:49, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I mean if they've got it setup to where *EVERYTHING* is all on *ONE* single server/host...pffft, hell no, I'm not gonna give 'em any money to piss down the toilet on such a n00b level setup, that's just crazy. --Flippant 03:23, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Rewrites Needed

We need separate articles for Internet and Internets. I've made a start by rewriting the intro a bit to reflect the difference between the place that NORPs go to do online banking and shopping (the Internet) and the place where we lurk (the/teh Internets) but I don't have time right now to even split it up into separate pages (which they need to be). Anyone who feels like making a start, go for it.

We could also prolly use a separate article on Netizens but we can spin that off later.

At some point, we also need to have a separate article for /b/ and /b/tards (which currently redirects to /b/) but that's after the Internets rewrite. But -again- if someone wants to go for it, I'll be happy to dogpile on tomorrow.

Colbert Pwns...Again

He also said he had a site called http://pussypatrol.org.

On last night's Colbert Report, Colbert had a piece on Canada's 'national magazine' which used to be called The Beaver. Apparently, they had to change the name since The Beaver kept getting blocked by Internets pr0n filters. The new mag is called Canada's History and Colbert told everyone to go to Urban Dictionary and make entries for "Canada's History" to define the most depraved sex act imaginable. So far so good.

The Gazeta Olsztynska published an image showing the bear alongside genuine Olympic mascots Quatchi, Sumi, Miga and Mukmuk to illustrate a feature about the Games. It appears that the newspaper lifted the picture from Google Images, unaware that it had been created as a prank by Michael Barrick, a Canadian artist and graphic designer.

Verizon Blocks 4chan: Official

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2358940,00.asp

Did Verizon block access to the Web's most infamous message board? 4chan thinks so. Christopher Poole, founder of the site that brought the world rickrolling, claims that Verizon has been "explicitly blocking" access to 4chan.

Jeffrey Nelson, a "PR guy" from Verizon, confirmed the blockage via Twitter. "2 of 4Chan affiliates were staging for attacks," Nelson wrote, adding that the attacks had stopped. "They're green-lighted for tonight's network update." Earlier, 4chan had noted the blockage. "Over the past 72 hours, we've been receiving reports from Verizon Wireless customers having difficulty accessing the image boards," Poole wrote. "After investigating, we found that Verizon is dropping traffic... only on port 80 (HTTP). No other subdomain/IP/port is affected, which leads us to believe this block is intentional."

"After an hour and a half on the phone, we've received confirmation from Verizon's Network Repair Bureau (NRB) that we are "explicitly blocked," the site later wrote on its status blog.

However..."At no time was 4Chan itself blocked. Ongoing network security team monitoring has now determined there is no longer an immediate threat. Connectivity to those sites is being restored later today."

-- - wut? 22:12, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I wonder when some of the workers in Verizon that went to 4chon quite a bit found out they did this, they ran to the head offices and told them that it was a terrible fucking idea and that a shitstorm would be headed their way. --   JailBait    talk    contribs   22:54, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
