Adil Ray's career has managed to combine television and radio presenting, journalism and more recently acting. In the past year we've seen Adil report on the Argentinian economy from Buenos Aires, introduce some groundbreaking comedy characters for TV and explore the plight of young architects for BBC Radio 4 all whilst presenting his daily breakfast radio show.

Adil's career began in pirate radio in 1994 moving on to Choice FM a year later. After graduating in 1997 he became the first full time British Asian presenter on commercial radio when he landed a spot with Galaxy 105.

In 2002, following spells with Century, Aire and Ministry of Sound Radio, Adil joined the BBC Asian Network to present their groundbreaking late night show. The Adil Ray Show championed new music talent without taking itself too seriously. It’s irreverent and comedic approach prompted huge audience interaction and the show became the launch pad for numerous artists including US chart-topper Jay Sean.

Honing his comedy skills while maintaining a keen focus on music, Adil took over the Drivetime show in May 2006 and, in early 2009, the prestigious Breakfast Show. On air from 7am each weekday morning, he continues to break new ground in the comedy arena. Featuring sketches, satire and a multitude of humorous characters, The Adil Ray Breakfast Show has become the cornerstone of the network’s move into the digital age. Adil has also presented programmes for BBC Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live as well as appearing as Jungli Mirza in the daytime radio soap, Silver Street.

Adil’s prominent position as a British Asian entertainer made him a natural choice as a key presenter for the BBC 2 series Desi DNA fronting stories across a range of Asian arts and cultural topics. Adil's BBC 3 show "Is It Coz I Is Black?" received an RTS nomination and he has since presented from Turkey and Argentina for BBC 2's Explore.

2010 sees Adil appearing once again on BBC 2 as several of his self-created comedy characters, including MC Raa and Mr. Khan in the comedy series, Bellamy's People.
