Aerolanes at Entebbe International Airport
The Civil Aviation Authority, in partnership with Government manages the upcountry aerodromes.
There are presently 13 airfields under the management of CAA in Uganda namely; Arua, Gulu, Kasese, Kidepo, Soroti and Mbarara.
The others are Pakuba, Masindi, Jinja, Lira, Moroto, Tororo and Kisoro.
Upcountry airfields form part of Uganda's domestic air links and serve mainly small general aviation aircraft. In order to promote East Africa as one tourism destination, five upcountry aerodromes were designated Entry and Exit points to specifically handle cross boarder air traffic within the region. The five are Arua, Kasese, Gulu, Kidepo, and Pakuba.
Safety and aviation security at the aerodromes are given priority. The Runways and Aprons are well maintained, btu are not not equipped to handle night operations yet. Staff at the aerodromes have been trained in aviation security matters , ramp management and airport ground safety.
