A CENTENARY girlguiding event was held at the Minster Church of Sts Thomas, Newport, to celebrate World Thinking Day.
The event, on Monday, was designed to recognise the ten million girl guides and sister groups across the world.
Most members of Girlguiding Isle of Wight, with guests including Lord Lieut Martin White and High Sheriff Gay Edwards, gathered at the Minster.
Songs selected by girls from all over the world were sung for guides in different countries who have diverse lifestyles.
A paper chain with more than 700 links was made.
The event was organised by Marion O’Nions and presentations were made by Island commissioner Janet Lovell and Island president Patricia Partridge to members who have been volunteers for several years, including Deborah Meadows and Enid Blackmore, who have served a total of 90 years between them.
