What Are Your Clients Learning From You About Steps To Starting A Small Business?

People often come to me for steps to starting a small business.  They know they want their own business but are not sure how to go about it.  As a coach, I am sure you have the same type of clients in your own practice.

You need to work with them on devising a plan and building a strong foundation to grow from.

Many people don’t realize how their beliefs and feelings affect their work.  These are two of the most important steps to starting a small business to have in place.

Make sure your clients understand that in order to have a successful business, they need to really understand their clients.  They need to know the base of the problem and also have the solution their clients are seeking.  This is how they will be successful.

When people can relate to you and understand that you really do care about helping them, not just earning some quick money, they will be doing business with you over and over again.

They also need to do research to make sure they have a marketable business that people are interested in. A lot of research can be done on forums and social networks.  It is extremely helpful to get your questions answered by people that have been where you want to go.

Copy is king.  Make sure your copy stands out in the crowd. Look in the copy that other companies are using and find words and phrases that you can use in your own copy.

Market both online and offline.  Do PR and promotional talks or events to get yourself known.  Once people start to work with you and trust you they will refer more business your way.

Make sure your clients understand how important proper documentation is.  If they are partnering with someone tell them to have a partnership agreement in place.  Make sure all contracts are set up properly and signed by all parties involved.

Again, briefly are some of the most important steps in setting up a new business:
•    Research
•    Market your business
•    Have proper documentation in place

By having these 3 steps in place your clients will be off to a great start with a strong foundation to build on in the future.

Teach your clients to listen to their heart.  Follow what they feel is right and exciting for them and they will never be upset about starting the wrong business.
