Known for her outlandish fashion choices as much as her music, Lady Gaga’s hottest outfits have now landed on U.S. currency, thanks to illustrator Craig Gleason. The U.S.-based artist has masterfully doodled a dozen of her most infamous get-ups onto dollar bills and is selling them on his very-NSFW blog.

Say what you want about her wardrobe, her personal life, her unsightly bruises…but you can’t argue that Lady Gaga is not an artist for her fans. People love her because she never lets the negative buzz get in the way of her devotion to her followers, and now she’s proving her love for her “little monsters” by inking them on her bod for eternity. Lady Gaga never bores on the fashion front. The outrageous pop star du jour showed up to the 2010 Grammy Awards in a custom-made Giorgio Armani Prive gown, glittery gravity-defying heels, and what appears to be a yellow wig. Rumored to be opening the show with Elton John, we’re dying to see what she’ll wear on stage. We expect nothing less than flames, blood, and alien-inspired leotards.

Lady Gaga will open this Sunday’s Grammy Awards show, according to the freaky fashionplate’s pal Perez Hilton. The honor is only one part of the ceremony’s confirmation of her pop princess moment: Elton John is reportedly set to perform a duet with Gaga on the show. “Elton and Lady Gaga on the same stage is sure to create fireworks,” a source told Hollyscoop. “It could be one of the most memorable Grammy performances of all time.” The show’s producers should certainly hope so—ratings for the ceremony—not unlike record sales—have been on a general decline over the last decade. But even if we watch, can Gaga hope to top Fever Ray’s face-melting acceptance speech in Sweden?
Other stars set to perform this weekend include Mary J. Blige, Bon Jovi, Drake, Eminem, Green Day, Lady Antebellum, Lil’ Wayne, Maxwell, Pink, Zac Brown Band and Gaga’s fellow Best Album nominees Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift. Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood and Usher will also take part in a 3-D tribute To Michael Jackson. Get your glasses ready!
Lady Gaga has met her rival in Sweden’s Karin Dreijer, singer from The Knife and Fever Ray. Even if you’ve never heard of Karin you’ve probably heard her music - she sings that catchy song “Heartbeats” that everyone went crazy for a few years ago. Karin went up at a recent Swedish awards show to accept her prize in a get-up that - while similar to some of Lady Gaga’s outfits, like the all-red outfit she wore at the VMAs - looked like a blood-red KKK cloak. But the real ‘oh sh*t!’ moment occurred when she pulled off her mask to reveal a face covered in dripping silly putty. Her speech consisted of a couple of moans, because, you know, her mouth was melded shut by the stuff and she couldn’t really speak.
GaGa may wear weird things, but you better believe she always looks hot while doing so. She’s the weird alternative girl you knew in high school that managed to make her indie outfits sexy enough to turn everyone on. Karin doesn’t give a crap if you want to do her - she’s more interested in scaring the hell out of you instead (which is kinda sexy, if you’re into faces that are covered with tiny, melting octupus tentacles).
To compare them to another American-Swedish face-off: Gaga is Twilight, while Karin is Let The Right One In - darker and weirder, but so much better.
WTF has Lady GaGa done to herself? The singer was on fire at her NYC show last night (many FabLifers were in the house and reported back that she’s ah-mah-zing live), but in addition to flaunting another odd GaGa garment she was rocking some serious burny-bruisey type markings on her arm. Ouch.
Yes, burny-bruisey is a made-up word, but doesn’t that accurately describe what’s going on up in there? Either our gal got injured one one of her more dangerously shaped costumes, or it’s just another part of her act, which has featured a gory, blood-filled performance of “Paparazzi” in the past. Now that Beyonce and Madonna have been announced as performers, is there anyone left to add to the Hope for Haiti Now lineup? Kanye West seems plausible, but allegedly his mouth is too big. Lady Gaga is another possibility, but she’d probably distract people from donating by wearing a diorama of an earthquake scene on her head.
In addition to performances by Madge and Bey, more than 100 of the “biggest names in film, television and music” will be on hand to either perform, speak or answer phones. We’ve already listed out most of the big names, but there are some notable additions that have just been announced: Haitian artist Emeline Michel, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks and Will Smith with Muhammad Ali. The event will air Friday at 8PM EST on VH1, MTV and just about every other channel on your TV. Brace yourself for the biggest telethon in history, and don’t forget to have your wallet on hand.
Just rest! Lady Gaga was forced to cancel a concert in Indiana last night due to “exhaustion.” The news was given to fans by a police officer on stage quite literally at the last minute—opening acts Semi Precious Weapons and Jason DeRulo had already finished their opening sets. “An hour before the show, I was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing,” Gaga explained on her Twitter. “Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular– a result of exhaustion and dehydration.”
Can’t apologize enough for how sorry I am. I could hear my fans cheering from my dressing room, I begged everyone to let me go onstage. My stage has complicated mechanical elements,everyone was concerned I’d be in danger during the 2hr show, since I had passed out earlier. I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort. I hope you can forgive me. I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me. I will make-up the performance on Jan 26.
Though “exhaustion” often signals something darker for singers, it’s hard to believe Muncie, Indiana is where a wild girl like Gaga would hit the wall (not that Purdue University can’t throw a party—we’re just saying). The way we see it, Lady Gaga’s life is already a fantastic work of imagination with a touch of disco sticks. However, her everyday outlandishness is not stopping her from upping the ante and turning herself into an actual comic book character.
Bluewater Productions, a publisher of unconventional comic books (previous titles include a series called “Female Force” about such women as J.K. Rowling and Michelle Obama, and “Political Power” featuring comic hero Ted Kennedy), is creating a new series called “Fame” and will be highlighting a different celeb in each installment. Gaga’s will be out in May, and other celebrities who will be immortalized in ink include Taylor Swift and David Beckham. Even though we think celebrities already lead imaginary lives worth reading about, we can get on board with illustrated Lady Gaga (er, and shirtless David Beckham) fan fiction.
Adam LambertandLady Gaga emerged as two of the most talked-about celebs of the past year for the same reasons: they’re both fierce performers, glitzy dressers and have had to deal with questions and criticism about their sexuality. Recently, Showbiz Spy reported that while Gaga was partying in Canada she was taunted by a man at a club who was incensed (still?) by the raunchy AMA performances the two stars gave way back in 2009.
The man called Gaga a man and used some choice homophobic slurs to describe Lambert. He then asked Gaga, “Well, don’t you care that you’re both going to HELL?” to which the singer responded “No…not as long as I don’t have to see YOUR face there!”
