    Gran Turismo 5 in 3D

Leading up to the release of Gran Turismo 5, I've been lucky enough to play a lot of the game--whether it was checking out the Subaru WRX on the Tokyo R246 track at last year's Tokyo Game Show, or playing the recently released Time Challenge demo featuring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This week, however, I had a chance to play GT5 in an entirely new way: in 3D at the Sony booth at CES 2010.

The 3D GT5 setup is actually the same demo that's running at several stations in the gaming section of Sony's...

Super Street Fighter IV Updated Hands-On - New Ultra Combos and Stages

We recently had a chance to spend some quality time with an updated version of Super Street Fighter IV, the next game in Capcom’s beloved fighting series. The next game will add new stages, characters, moves, and some additional game balance tweaks to 2009's Street Fighter IV. The demo on display let us try out all the announced playable characters and get a feel for the tweaked gameplay system. While we didn't get a chance to plow through every single character, we did get through a good...

The Eye of Judgment Legends Hands-On

The Eye of Judgment was one of the more ambitious experiments from Sony early in the PlayStation 3's life. At its core the title was a card battle game that had you battling for control of a 3-by-3 grid using elemental-themed cards. The shiny layer of polish that differentiated The Eye of Judgment from other card games was the PlayStation Eye peripheral, which read data off of physical cards to generate polygonal creatures on the grid. The PSP version of the game doesn't feature anything that flashy and instead just focuses on the card game, which is a strategic and challenging...

Lost Planet 2 Update - Akrid X Boss Battle

Lost Planet 2 is a big game. More specifically, it's a game with big bosses. We've witnessed that firsthand with our last few looks at this four-player sequel to Capcom's hit 2007 shooter. First there was the giant salamander boss back from the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, a massive enemy that you could actually crawl inside of provided you had the courage to grapple-hook inside his mouth and even more courage to make the journey back out at the other end. Then at the...

    Mega Man 10 Hands-On

We had the chance to try out a single level demo version of Capcom’s upcoming Mega Man 10 on the Xbox 360 at the publisher's game suite at CES 2010. The game is a new downloadable title for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 done in the classic 8-bit style of the original games on the NES. This time out the blue bomber and Proto Man team up to deal with the effects of Roboenza, a robotic infection that's causing robots to malfunction. The robot swine flu is so bad that even Doctor Wily is affected when his creations go nuts and boot him from his lair. With the world in peril and...

    Scrap Metal Hands-On

The time-honored video game tradition of weapon-laden cars crashing into one another at ludicrous speeds continues with the upcoming Scrap Metal for Xbox Live Arcade. Due for release this spring, this arcade auto combat game looks to combine exactly what you might expect from the game based on its title: lots of cars and lots of crashes. We had a chance to check the game out for the first time today at the Microsoft booth at CES 2010.

    There's a modicum of a...

    Toy Soldiers Updated Hands-On

If, like us, you loved playing pretend wargames with tiny plastic soldiers when you were a kid, then Toy Soldiers is made for you. The upcoming downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade combines a lot of different influences: tower defense, real-time strategy, and shooter all combine in the gameplay and are bolstered by World War I weaponry, appealing retro toy art, and goofy humor to boot. That might sound like one too many cooks in Toy Soldier's kitchen, but as we found out...
