One of the most promising italian driving talents will race in Auto GP in 2010: he is Stefano Bizzarri, born in 1990 and third in the European F3 Open last season. The 20 years-old Bizzarri left karting in 2007 as one of the best Italian drivers, and from then on keeped improving, racing in F.Renault and then switching to F.3 clinching immediately some good results. 2009 was his best season, as he managed to take one win, two second places and two third places despite competing again experienced drivers like Bruno Méndez and Celso Miguez. Now he decided to prove his talent with the 550 bhp of the Auto GP car; he’s sure about being on the grid, and he is near to close a deal with RP Motorsport, the same team who fielded him in the last two seasons. And here is how he explains his choice:
“I’m really sure that Auto GP is the right choice for my career, from every possible point of view. The media exposure has been very good until now, the prize money is the best you can find, and that car will be a great learning tool”.
Bizzarri feels that the car is the real strong point of Auto GP: “When I tested it, I was really happy because the power is unbelievable but despite that the car is very balanced and easy to drive. Besides that, it will be completely different challenge from F3. I’m very curious about facing new issues like power-oversteering and tyre wear, managing the tyres will be a huge task with all that power. Also the pit-stops are something very important for a driver who wants to step up to GP2”.
To drive the Auto GP car a driver must be perfectly fit, and Stefano knows that: “I’m training a lot, I’m in the gym four times a week, I do some karting and I will soon start testing with F.3 just to be in the best possible shape”.
Enzo Coloni: “We are really happy of having Stefano on the series grid. The championship was created in order to give real value to the driver’s talent and Stefano fits well in that, being one the fastest and most gifted Italian drivers”.
