    Rory Reid Trails GOP Governor Hopefuls Except for Embattled Jim Gibbons

    Rory Reid, son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, trails two Republican candidates for governor in Nevada and the only GOP opponent he beats is Gov. Jim Gibbons who has been been through a messy divorce and accused of assault by a Las Vegas cocktail waitress.

    Republican Brian Sandoval, a former state attorney general and federal judge who is seeking to wrest the Republican nomination from Gibbons, leads Reid 53 percent to 35 percent with 7 percent preferring another candidate and 5 percent undecided, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted March 3. Reid is chairman of the Clark County Commission.

    Another GOP hopeful, former North Las Vegas mayor Mike Montandon leads Reid 42 percent to 37 percent with 13 percent preferring someone else and 8 percent undecided. The margin of error is 4.5 points.

    Reid leads only Gibbons, by 44 percent to 36 percent with 15 percent preferring someone else and 4 percent undecided.
