About the Writers

The BuddyTV content staff is extremely talented and devoted to bringing fans the latest and best written original content on a extremely broad range of television shows. Please feel free to contact them about their articles or with any suggestions for upcoming pieces.
Jen Harper, Managing Editor
Jen comes to Seattle from Atlanta (and loathes when people call it Hotlanta) by way of Breckenridge, Colo. As a self-dubbed intellectual residing in the Pacific Northwest, Jen knows she's not supposed to even own a television, yet she religiously TiVos shows like Secret Life of the American Teenager, America's Next Top Model and all of the Real Housewives franchise. She also squeezed out a little tear when the new Melrose Place was canceled. Additionally, she suffers from an acute case of Twilight addiction and spends her lunch breaks catching up on TMZ and Us Weekly. In essence, there's a 14-year-old girl living inside her. Jen has a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Georgia. Her diploma is hanging behind the door of her guest bedroom, so her husband and Labrador are the only ones who ever see it. They're very proud.
John Kubicek, Senior Editor
John is a New Jersey-born TV critic who now calls Seattle home. When he's not reading or writing about TV, he's watching it. He manages to squeeze in more than 50 hours of TV a week, everything from Lost to One Tree Hill to The Colbert Report. He'll also watch anything on cable, especially everything produced by HBO, Showtime or FX. The Wire is the single best show on TV, and one of the finest achievements in the history of television. That is not an opinion, it is objective fact. John graduated from Drew University with a B.A. in Mathematics (minoring in English and Philosophy), and briefly attended the University of Maryland's doctoral program in Mathematics before dropping out to watch TV for a living.
Meghan Carlson, Senior Writer
Meghan hails from Walla Walla, WA, the proud home of the world's best sweet onions and Adam West, the original Batman. An avid grammarian and over-analyzer, you can usually find her thinking too hard about plot devices in favorites like The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and How I Met Your Mother. In her spare time, Meghan enjoys drawing, shopping, trying to be funny (and often failing), and not understanding the whole Twilight thing. She's got a BA in English and Studio Art from Whitman College, which makes her a professional arguer, daydreamer, and doodler.
Laurel Brown, Features Writer
Laurel grew up in Mamaroneck, NY, Grosse Pointe, MI and Bellevue WA. She then went on to live in places like Boston, Tucson, Houston, Wales, Tanzania, Prince Edward Island and New York City before heading back to Seattle. Ever since early childhood, when she became addicted to The Muppet Show, Laurel has watched far too much TV. Current favorites include Chuck, Modern Family, Supernatural, Mad Men and Community. Laurel received a BA in Astrophysics (yes, that is possible) from Colgate University and a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies and History of Science from Columbia University before she realized that television is much better than studying.
Rachel Cameron, Community Manager
Rachel graduated from Washington State with a B.A. in English and Communication. When she's not watching TV she's chatting with other TV fans here on BuddyTV and Twitter. Some of Rachel's can't miss shows are long time canceled Friends and Party of Five or current shows: How I Met Your Mother, House, Life Unexpected and Glee. However, with DVR she can actually watch it all, and usually does. When she pulls herself away from the TV and internet, you can find Rachel pub crawling around Seattle or at a sporting event.
Cynthia is a South Jersey girl who grew up dreaming of being an actress in Hollywood. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NY, where her acting teachers encouraged her to leave the business. She decided to fall back on her second love, writing, and used it to get herself on the set of one of her favorite TV shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That led to writing the official quiz book and staff writing for the official Buffy magazine. Now living in the O.C., Cynthia spends half her day watching TV and the other half reporting on it. Even though she has interviewed hundreds of stars, she still gets weak in the knees in the presence of Jensen Ackles and Alex O’Loughlin. Cynthia also works behind the scenes on the occasional movie project, and she can be seen in several Zac Selwyn music videos, on an old episode of Blue Collar TV and in an upcoming short film that she’s going to send to all of her acting teachers with a card that says, “What do you know?”
Carla Patton, Writer
Originally from Seattle, Carla recently took a husband and moved to Austin, Texas, where she is finally using her television "problem" to her advantage. It's sort of like Dexter, but boring and less murdering. Carla's favorite shows include 30 Rock, The Amazing Race, Project Runway, Modern Family, anything with murder, and pretty much anything gross and weird (CSI, The Bachelor, Toddlers & Tiaras, etc.). Favorite canceled shows include: Arrested Development, Veronica Mars and Average Joe. In her spare time, Carla leads tours of downtown Austin on a Segway (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!), blogs about Netflix Instant, and visits elementary schools telling children they don't need math to succeed (just kidding, stay in school, kids).
Thank you so much for your continued support! We look forward to providing you the best news on your favorite TV shows.
