Okay, I intended to write an item about the lingering effects that scene from this week’s episode of The Good Wife
in which Alicia (Julianna Margulies) confronted Will (Josh Charles)
about why he took her off a big murder case is having on my breathing. I can’t stop replaying it, and each time I watch it, I forget to inhale after Will delivers that line “I want you to be here” and just stares at her. ”Then… I’m here,” she says. And more staring. Honestly, it’s one of the sexiest scenes between two non-touching people wearing suits ever
. But since CBS doesn’t have that clip embeddable — watch it at 21:50 in the full episode here
— I went on the press site looking for a still photo from it. Still no luck. However
, there is a silver lining: I stumbled upon this shot from the upcoming March 16 episode, “Heart.” In it, we see Will dressing down, which I’ve been a big fan of since the Feb. 9 episode in which he and his leather jacket
had to interrupt their weekend to work a murder case. Also exciting: guest star Martha Plimpton returns.
As the caption for the photo says: “In an emergency courtroom set up in a hospital, Alicia and Will battle Patti Nyholm [Plimpton] and an insurance company that refuses to pay for life-saving in-utero surgery.” So this must be another unexpected after-hours case, which would explain Will’s casual attire and the other shot of Patti, pregnant the last time we saw her arguing against the widows of overworked train employees, lugging her baby into the hospital. Patti is smart, loud, and really
annoying to Will — welcome back!
P.S. Gary Cole, who guest-starred as a ballistics expert with an equal appreciation for Sarah Palin and Christine Baranski’s Diane, returns in the April 6 episode. Can’t wait. Alan Cumming is back next week as Eli Gold, the sharp-tongued, sharply-dressed new addition to Peter’s political team. (Do we think him dropping his pants was in the script, or improvised on set?) As we see in the promo embedded after the jump, he discovers that someone is tweeting that Alicia is sleeping with Will to get ahead at the law firm. I always get a little nervous when shows work Facebook or Twitter into storylines, but I have faith in The Good Wife. It’s not gracing this week’s cover of EW — as No. 1 on our list of the 10 Best TV Shows Right Now! — for nothin’…
