New Doctor Matt Smith and companion Karen Gillan are going on tour across the UK - and taking their first episode with them.

The Doctor Who tour bus will arrive first in Belfast on 29 March, where fans will be able to meet the cast. They will then be the first audience to see the Eleventh Doctor in action with a special screening of episode one, The Eleventh Hour.

On the morning of 30 March the bus moves to Inverness, Karen Gillan's home town, before heading to Sunderland in the afternoon. Next is Salford, on the morning of 31 March, and the final stop, that afternoon, is in Northampton - Matt Smith's home town.

"This is a great opportunity for the new Doctor and his companion to interface directly with the people who matter most to Doctor Who: the fans," said Piers Wenger, executive producer and Head of Drama, BBC Wales. "The chance to visit them in their home towns will ensure that the Eleventh Doctor's maiden voyage is an utterly magical one."

If you don't live in any of the areas the tour bus is visiting, you may still be in luck, because special screenings are to be held on BBC Big Screens across the UK from 1 to 3 April in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Plymouth and Swansea.

And the show will air on BBC1 at Easter - but sorry, they've still not given an exact date yet.

"Doctor who comes to you".

Do doctors still do home visits? I always thought you had to make an appointment at the surgery - or phone the NHS helpline.
