Table tennis ace secures English title number three
Table tennis star Andrew Baggaley has made history by winning his third English National Singles title.

The British number one from Milton Keynes stormed to glory at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield by beating Liam Pitchford from Derbyshire in the final on Sunday.

Baggaley was trailing 3-1 in sets before making the most dramatic of comebacks to seal a famous 4-3 win and lift the title he had previously won in 2002 and 2008.

On the way to the final he defeated Richard Marshall from Devon 4-0 and followed that with a victory over Kevin Dolder from Lancashire 4-1.

At the quarter-final stage Baggaley beat Chris Doran from Northants 4-0 followed by a 4-2 win over Gavin Evans from Bucks in the semi.

The 27-year-old plays professionally in the Spanish Super League for DKV Borges and is GB's leading medallist of all time at the Commonwealth Games having won two gold medals and one silver - he was also an ambassador for the London 2012 Olympics.

Baggaley now competes in the ITTF Pro Tour German Open from March 18-21 and is a genuine prospect for a medal at the London 2012 Games.
