Are You Focusing On Your Small Business Advertising?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I am a strong believer in having multiple streams of income in your business. You don’t want to have only one source of income to rely on. Sometimes in business you need to think outside the box to find a new service or product that people are seeking out and that will make you stand out from the crowd.

I have worked with many different businesses and among them was an auto repair shop. They weren’t sure how to create multiple streams of income when there were so many other auto shops around that did the same work they did.

Do You Do Spiritual Marketing When You Meet People At Networking Events?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

At networking events, business owners have been trained to tell people their elevator speech, give out their business cards to as many people as they can and see what comes out of it.

The question I ask is, how do you want to be treated at a networking event? Do you want people to listen to you, have conversations with you, or just speak at you about themselves? In order to dress for success at a networking event, you have to learn a few tactics that will change the way you bring yourself into the meetings.

What the Bleep Do We Know About Time and Reality?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I was recently reading a Greg Braden book called “The Spontaneous Healing Power of Belief” and found an extremely interesting story that I want to share with you.

Greg was on a spiritual retreat with a group of people. They were going to spend the day in a temple that was a very special place where they were. They spent the morning discussing how wonderful it would be when they got to the temple and what impact it would have on them. They kept talking about this temple and their feelings about it and their excitement kept building up the energy around them.

They traveled to the temple and when they got out of the bus and looked around, they noticed the guides were looking confused and pointing to their watches. Since the guides didn’t speak English, Greg went to the translator that was with them and asked what was wrong with the guides. The translator told him that it was not possible to have already reached the temple. It had only taken them 4 hours and it was an 8 hour trip from where they had started.

Does the Idea of Sales Presentation Training Make You Cringe?

Monday, July 20th, 2009

One of my clients is a partner in a CPA firm and he was looking for ways to bring in new business. He told me that his employees have problems bringing in new business because they don’t like to sell. He said they aren’t wired for it.

His beliefs as well as his employees were that to be in sales you have to be pushy, be like the used car salesman stereotype and be untruthful.

The reality of the situation is that they hadn’t done sales before and needed guidance on having conversations with people that were comfortable for them.

Have You Put Your Small Business Ideas Order Form to the Universe Yet?

Friday, July 17th, 2009

I have a coaching client that I have been working with and we were meeting with a potential web designer for him one day. We had been working on his beliefs about what he needed. I suggested he hire someone that could act as a marketing manager and work on commission. They could take care of the marketing for his business as well as the web design and changes. He didn’t think we would find anyone to fit that, so I had him start working on his beliefs.

Are You Balancing Your Masculine and Feminine Qualities In Your Leadership?

Friday, July 17th, 2009

While coaching a woman with a prominent position in her company we discussed her desire to be more feminine in her business experience. I told her that I feel women can fully be feminine in business tastefully. You need to activate your feminine side and nurture your employees with a combination of masculine and feminine qualities to be a great leader. Be authentic in who you are.

Are You Visualizing Your Outcomes in Business to See Results?

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

My daughter Joy is 11 years old and is in her first year of Softball. She plays with 5th to 8th graders on the team and has been comparing herself to others who’ve played for 3 years. She has been getting frustrated so I explained to her that by comparing yourself to others you always come up short.

There is always someone else that you will perceive as being better than you, skinnier, prettier, richer, smarter, etc. I explained to Joy that she needs to focus on what is working. Her coach has said that she has natural ability, other parents have told me they can’t believe it is only her first year playing.

Could You Use Some Tips On Public Speaking?

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

So many people have a fear of public speaking, or just don’t think they are good at it. I have to tell you that anyone can overcome this fear and learn to be a captivating public speaker that will be able to hold an audience’s attention just by working on the issues they fear ahead of time.

At my daughter’s recent 5th grade graduation, she was choosen to speak at the podium a number of different times. She was to announce the winners of various awards that were being given out.

My daughter came to me because she was nervous and we talked about all the issues she was afraid of. These included falling on the wires on stage, and pronouncing the names wrong as well as many more.

This was clearly a state of What-if-itis which so many of my clients suffer from. She was worried about everything that could possibly happen that hadn’t occurred yet.
