State Trooper Joshua Miller, who gave his life in the line of duty, was honored posthumously as 2009 Greater Pittston Person of the year, and Maria Capolarella-Montante received the Joseph Saporito Lifetime of Service Award at a reception last Sunday at Tribeca Conference Center. Joseph Durkin, president of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, announced Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski will be speaker at the “Swing into Spring” Breakfast Meeting of the chamber on Thursday, April 1, at St. Anthony’s Parish Center, 28 Memorial Street, Exeter.
Due to drop-off of materials other than recyclables the Pittston Township Board of Supervisors modified the hours of operation of the recycling center located on the Pittston By-Pass. The new hours of operation are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
