Team Type 1 founder and CEO Phil Southerland has written an open letter to Missouri’s Representative Allen Icet calling for his support in funding the Tour of Missouri. The Show Me state’s stage race was established in 2007 and has featured some of the biggest names in the sport including George Hincapie, Mark Cavendish and Christian Vande Velde, but is now under threat due to a potential loss of funding.
Oscar Freire may have taken the headlines at Milan-San Remo, but Colnago-CSF’s Sacha Modolo created plenty of his own when he claimed fourth place in the bunch sprint that decided La Primavera. For a rider just weeks into his first pro season, it was a phenomenal result, especially as the 22-year-old Italian had to launch his sprint from well back. Such was his finishing speed that he only narrowly failed to take third place from former San Remo winner Alessandro Petacchi.
Team Type 1 is already making its mark in the early US training series races and is prepared for a successful US and International racing schedule in 2010. Backed by Colnago and building on a fantastic 2009 season, Team Type 1 returns core team members and adds veteran international riders to the roster.
Temperatures may not have climbed high enough to make outdoor triathlons comfortable, but members of the Team Type 1 Triathlon Team have been sharpening their tools in anticipation of the triathlon season. Team members Bradford Gildon, Kevin Powell and team co-manager Tom Kingery all showed they are moving steadily towards their peak with strong performances in key early season tune-up events.
