Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Chris Evans accepts 'Captain America' mantle (exclusive):

He's already Johnny Storm! Give someone else a chance!

Jensen Ackles? From The CW? Not.

Evans is poised to be a movie star - he has the experience, looks, and charisma to carry this movie more than any other contenders that have much less experience in this biz.

Is it weird that he also played another character in other Marvel comicbook films? A little. But it was awhile ago, and and nobody seemed to mind that two Hulk movies came out within a close time frame. Plus, F4 kinda sucked. And much of Captain America film will take place in a World War type atmosphere with less cheezy glitz.

Kudos, Mr. Evans. If you do the work many people believe you are capable of, this should be a hit.

I like this news. It's better than some of the other casting choices there were for Captain America. At least Chris Evans looks like Captain America.

Should've been Nathan Fillion.

Anyone who says he won't be good as Captain America because he was too funny or too one-note in Fantastic Four is a moron.

It's called acting. It's called doing what's required for the role and the film.

Well I hear rumours that Chris Evans may be making his living playing Marvel heroes. First he is the Human Torch and now I hear that he has been or will be offered the part of Captain America.

I'm amused how to see how this plays out. Both Reynolds and Evans are known for comedic roles and now they are both at the head of serious superhero movies.... I have faith in them.

Hmmm... I wonder why no one at Marvel or Paramount has confirmed this yet. Or even Joe Johnston. Or Chris Evans for that matter. You'd think they'd be excited to get the great news out there.

Well, I suppose they'll get around to it when they can, since THR's "sources" already broke the story.

As far as his acts are concerned i think he is already reserved for this summer for another movie and accepting the Captain America would really suit him but he will have to manage a lot time slot to work on both of them well.

I think it's great, he's a good actor an can pull it off. I'm very happy that everyone that doesn't like
this can suck it, most of the opinions concerning who should play Cap sucked balls. Most of you peeps couldn't cast a Pokemon cartoon so jus STFU,LOL

Not sure if Chris Evans can play a decent Steve Rogers. He was great for Johnny Storm the Human Torch though. Sam Worthington would have been a good choice. I do however anticipate the Red Skull portrayed by Hugo Weaving

another movie successfully ruined, pre-production
im having daredevil flashbacks...

This upsets me greatly. After seeing this guy in the Fantastic 4 I don't see how they could have given him the role. They should have given this to someone else, maybe like Christian Bale...seems like he would've been a good choice.

Wow I dont think its a good idea.

Doesnt matter, Joe Johnston is a hack director anyways, i expect him to ruin it before anyone else gets the chance.

He was actually pretty good in the movie "Sunshine." I think he can act, the F4 movies just really sucked.

As long as you don't make CA act and look like the girlie boys that seem to dominate the pictures. Maybe hollywood will actually give some thought to representing CA as a mans man. No I don't care if he is Latino, gay, black, or blue. Just have the guy look like a man and act like a man.(Hint: smart, rugged, worldly, cares for the people in his life that mean something, respects woman and children, will smash his enimies with great happiness, believes in some power greater than his own and respects and understands the US Constitution. Good luck.

Couldn't agree more after seeing him in "Sunshine". He and Michael Chiklis were the only good thing about the original Fantastic Four, but wouldn't have thought he was right for this role based upon that performance alone.

Rock on Marvel, I was on the fence with this flick, but now I'm on board!
