Introducing Redding
Originally called Poverty Flats during the gold rush for its lack of wealth, Redding now thrives. Travelers used to dismiss Redding as no more than a pit stop at the north end of the Sacramento Valley, but in the last decade Redding has transformed itself into one of the fastest growing, most desirable residential areas (and pit stops) in the country. (Amazingly, it currently has the fastest percentage growth in median housing prices in the USA.) A tourist destination it is not, though it is eagerly trying to become one. Recent constructions like the Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay Exploration Park are enticing lures and worth a visit…but not a long one.
