Flyers winger Dan Carcillo has been suspended two games for his crosscheck to face of New Jersey Devils' winger David Clarkson on Sunday.

The hit resulted in a cut near Clarkson's right eye, which required three stitches to close.

"I am disappointed in this decision by the league office," said Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren in a media release. "This was clearly an accidental high stick and I do not believe a match penalty was the call that was warranted."

Clarkson does not share Holmgren's view the incident was accidental.

"I think he went to punch me and he hit me with his stick," Clarkson told the Newark Star-Ledger. "He came in and wanted to fight and I think he got his stick up. I think it was pretty dirty."

Carcillo, who received a match penalty for the incident is no stranger to supplemental discipline.

Earlier this season, he was suspended for four games for a deliberate blow to face/sucker punch against Matt Bradley on Dec. 5.  He was also fined for a throat slashing gesture vs. Toronto in early January.

He was also suspended twice in the 2008-09 season.  He received two games for getting involved with Ben Eager from the bench in October, and a one game suspension in the playoffs for a glove to the head of Maxime Talbot.
