Re: When is the best time to study?...
It really depends on who you are and what your habits are about studying. In college, it is said that you have to study whether you did so in college or not.

I think it is best to study when you are well rested. I have heard some people say that studying right before you fall asleep is very efficient because you may dream of what you just studied.

Everyone is different, but when it comes to studying notes, I think it is best to write in your own words, rather than straight out of the book. It is all about knowing what you have just heard or read and applying. You have to understand what you are studying or there is no point in studying it.

You may also want to ask your teachers for some advice as well. Upperclassmen would also probably have great advice for you.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
yah, veggieT is right, it depends on you, what way are you comfortable with.

i have just one advice:

dont study on a place where you can sleep.

..like study on a library..you will be embarassed if you sleep there so you will not sleep right?
..or on a parkor near the lake..it refreshing there..
..but if inside your house,,you better study in a table or somewhere its hard to sleep..

that's all i can say

Re: When is the best time to study?...
ok, so I had the same problem, I can say I still have it, but after attending 4 classes over the summer and at the same time pleasing my friends in going out and meeting everybody in campus, I came up with a schedule. This is crazy but it worked. I brought to the library: my blanket, a cup of coffee, earphones, and a pillow so that I wouldn't leave the library without my complete assigment. This might not work for you, but if you focus on your assigment first no matter what, then you'll get it done. Believe me, one night I stayed in the library until my class the next day, at 8:30 a.m.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I looked at my notes after work (was typically around 6:00). I was completely awake after having watched anywhere between 5 to 13 kids. Now that I am in my course content areas, I have more night classes (for alternative certification people - education major :D ) However, I am more attentive in the morning, so that is probably when I will glance over notes before I go to observations. I also look at them before I go to bed.

You just have to look at your schedule and know your body. You know when you are most attentive and will get the best work done!! Good Luck!

Re: When is the best time to study?...
well i always have trouble studying after i eat and right before i go to bed so then i just study after both-that's usually in the morning when i first get up because if i eat breakfast i won't be sleepy because i just woke up or you can study at those times in the day where you just happened to eat a lot of sweets( like me) and then be hyper

Re: When is the best time to study?...
it might be different for certain people..
but i think it helps (and i've heard it does help?) to turn on some classical or piano music really quietly.
and if youre friends tend to distract you
dont study with them when finals and tests are coming up :]
ahaha i didnt even answer your question
but seriuosly, it is different for each person when the best time is to study.
but i find it rather helpful to study when you're the most awake.. which is usually afternoons?
AND! dont forget to eat breakfast.
i can never emphasize it more for people around me..
its never healthy to skip breakfast and
studies prove that you tend to be more awake when you eat breakfast
hope this helps you a little :D

Re: When is the best time to study?...
After every class in cycles.

For example...

After your classes for the day you should be reviewing everything that was lectured and reading up on the next lecture. This is especially helpful if you are a science major.

When doing this...always go in cycles. Don't study your subjects in the same rotations everyday.

So the bottom line...THE BEST TIME TO STUDY IS ASAP after your classes while it is still fresh in your mind.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I must agree with everyone it depends on you. your habits, your schedule, when your brain is actually awake.
like GMidura said right after the class while it is still fresh on your mind. Good luck!

Re: When is the best time to study?...
last post today...studying is a drag, but you get to the real world..where you have sales repots to make, presentations to build, and learning that no creates the greatest obstacle (sales...not women) in business...you take things at heart. when is the best time to study? in pre-grad days i basically was in class every day and learned to understand the points of the teachers, and get an understanding. it is not easy. i have no idea if i could do a board like those guys on the commercial for that new tv show ..but you have to learn to juggle, prioritize and develop a good idea on what is important. it may not be going to the frat party on thrusday night, or going away for the weekend..it's a matter of how you feel you do. i always say the first test is a trial of what is to come. there is also a thing called discipline...learn it. it's your investment (or loans or the 'rents)...but it's what you put in that you get out of it. i will tell you a secret of mine..i leave town when i can and work on my studies there. i just shut the hotel door and am not disturbed, unless for the other hotel guests...but that's another story. try juggling, looking for a job, filling unemployment papers out, writing grad school papers (fast track is a pain in the arse!)chatting with your gf, doing the group papers so you know it is done, pay bills, and study! and now i have my teaching certificate classes as well! so bro...you find the time...and do what YOU think is best to accomplish the task at hand. it's not that easy as you get older...so figure it out dude..you will find a way.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I agree with everyone who said that it depends upon you and your tastes.

Sometimes, believe it or not, I find it easier to study when I'm a little sleepy. My brain just seems to work smoother. Other times, I can't understand half of what I read.

My studying/reading habits are ridiculously peculiar. For example, sometimes I need complete silence so I wait until later on in the day to study. Other times, I need background noise. Sometimes, I can't study until I've had some fun (posting, watching tv, surfing the net, etc.). Other times, wanting to do those things is what motivates me to finish studying.

Just try a bunch of different things. Study at the library at a certain time every day if you can. If that doesn't work, try studying in your dorm (or your room if you're not in college). Try the outdoors. Try morning. Try night. Try studying with no noise. Try turning on a fan so the silence isn't so loud. Etc. If you keep at it, you'll find the perfect spot, time, and method.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
hello dmbd7! haven't seen you around in a while. Well, everyone has mad some excellent suggestions. In addition to what everyone else has said I have one bit of advice. If you have to study and it's been a long day it is best to go to bed at a decent time and get up early to continue your studies. It is hard to remember things when ou are extremly tired.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
Honestly I think it really depends on the person (like Veggie said).

For some it's not the time, but more the method of studying. As you should know some people are visual learners, while others learn through hearing.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
It is often hard to feel like you have studied enough, especially in college. I often get frustrated or overwhelmed may be the better word. When that happens, it is always best to walk away from studying for a while and return when you are relaxed. I recommend studying while you have a place that is quiet especially if there is a lot of reading involved. One thing that I know for sure should always be avoided is procrastination. It has never been good for me to wait until the last minute to study. I do recommend studying at the last minute but I would not want that to be the only time I studied. Taking notes can be very helpful and if you learn best with one on one help instead of by yourself then search for someone who can help you. Everyone is different. Some learn better if something is read to them than if they read it themselves. It is all in figuring out which way you learn the best. I hope this helps.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
do you get tired easily ir get sleepy when you read long?
well if in that case, when your mind is already tired, don't force yourself to study. Your mind is just like a machine, when it is used & already tired,it doesn't work that well...so having a "fresh" mind when you wake up is the best tiem to study...because your mind just have it's rest and soooo ready to take up new infos....=)

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I'd say whenever you are the least tired...personally, after a nap, im REALLY grumpy. It's kinda wierd actually, i am NOT grumpy in the morning after like 6-7 hours of sleep, but if i take like a 1 or 2 hours nap in the afternoon, when i wake up im SOOOOOO irritable...

so, i think the best time to study kinda depends on the person but really, just whenever you aren't tired and hungry... or excited about something-so you can focus!!

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I must repeat what everyone else has said. It really depends on the person. I can't be tired and I need to be alert. So in the morning right after I get up is good. Also can't be hungry or I can't concentrate. But right before I go to bed is a good time to review because I go to bed thinking about whatever I was studying and it helps me remember it. Also right after class isn't always a good time for me sometimes I have to go do something fun first.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
I have the worst time trying to study. I usually make note cards and read over the chapter before I go to bed. I study whenever I get the change because I work full time and go to school full time which makes it very difficult to study. I find myself having to force myself to sit down and study.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
The best time for me to study is when the house is quiet, the kids are in bed and the hubby is asleep. But now that school is back in, I will have ample time to study during the day...........unless I get a job during the day.

Re: When is the best time to study?...
study after exercising. it was found in a study that after doing physical activity kids were able to solve problems better, compared to before when they had just been sitting.
