Restricted free agent linebacker Omar Gaither is back with the Eagles, signing his one-year tender offer on Wednesday.

A fifth-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2006, the versatile Gaither has amassed 329 tackles, five sacks and two interceptions during his four-year career as an inside and outside linebacker with the Eagles, including 34 starts. He has also contributed on special teams.

Gaither started the final five games of his rookie season at the WILL linebacker spot before moving to the middle in 2007, when he started all 16 contests and posted a career-high 170 tackles. In 2008, he moved back to the outside, starting 10 games at WILL before opening the '09 campaign in the middle.

In 2009, Gaither registered 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks in five games before being sidelined for the remainder of the season with a Lisfranc sprain in his foot.

Gaither has played in 53 regular season games and five postseason contests.

Gaither cannot sign with another team. The deadline for teams to sign other teams' restricted free agents to an offer sheet is April 15.

OMG - he only is only under contract for 1 year. The Eagles better trade him. You can't use a player with only 1 year on his contract. Take whatever you can get for him.

I think 170 tackles in one season is a good thing. That's about 40 shy of the record. Bradley I think is a little bit more Solid at LB. But I am still baffled as to why Jordan is picked over Gaither. I still believe the LB core needs to be improved. Especially since we cut Witherspoon, but Gaither, Jordan, Gocong, Mays, and Fokou provide good depth. But we still need someone who can handle Witten, Cooley, and Boss.

I think omar could be a good defensive player if he could stey healthy and we could give him a position to stick with and get com fortable in. No one will be productive if he cant get comfortable. I say he starts ay WILL and thats it no middle or no benching give him a real shot

I am glad to see we have some depth at LB right now. Gaither has some versatility at the LB position. I like him better on the outside and playing as the primary b/u and on special teams. I still think we need to add playmakers at the LB position given that there are some ?? due to injuries last season. I would like to see us draft Weatherspoon in rd 1 or Lee in Rd 2!
